Steam Update Troubles

Hi all. I feel I should open with some witty doodah, but I'll get straight to the problem. Steam hasn't updated since November 30th, and I've only got that one patch, along with the pre-load in my Steam history. So that means no stutter patch or anything. And yes, I have got the auto-update thing checked in my HL2 settings. Oh, and I'm not getting any of those news popup boxes on startup either... Help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hum,

Go close steam and delete clientregistery.blob then go into the steamapps folder and delete platform.gcf

And see if that cures your ailments.

Nope. It re-installed the updates for November 30th, but never went on to any recent ones...

That isn't possible. You can ONLY have the latest version. If you're looking at the update news, ignore it as it's out of date.

Ah, OK then. It's just that it took a remarkably short amount of time to update files, so along with the update news, it made me think that it was still all non-updatified. Thanks for the help.
