hello.it has been days since the release of the new 'major updates'.yet every time i log onto steam it does not do its autoupdate thing that it does from time to time.when i click on play games,it shows deathmatch not activated so to speak, and the tools category is also not available.i have tried it with the cd in drive and that makes no difference.thnx 4 help

You can right-click on the little Steam icon and look at monitor to see if it's downloading anything.

There is also file you can remove or delete called ClientRegistry.blob that should make Steam scan your system for what you have and itmight fix this.

the monitor function shows nothing happening.not too sure if i want to delete that blob file tho LOL.when i first installed steam and hl2 it would update it self always but not now

Hello! U can delete this file clientregistry.blob without any problem. Turn steam off, then delete the file then restart Steam. Steam will update and create a new clientregistry.blob file. That will not affect ur game or steam fonctionality. I have done this several times.

okay, where exactly is the file located.ill give it a shot

okay.i deleted the blob file.restarted steam.closed it out.restarted steam,it goes thru the updating steam business, yet when i click on play games the hl2 deathmatch and source tools are still faded out

my bad LOL.all ineeded to do was click on each of the icons and it was installed.my bad
