Steam won't log on..

Whenever I try to log into my steam account it comes up with 'steam is having trouble connecting to the steam servers'


Also, I've just got Bioshock, on disc and when it's installing it comes up with the Autopatcher, which also fails to connect to servers, I've tried to run both with my firewall and antivirus off but no luck

I don't know if these problems are related to each other but any help would be appreciated

i had that problem awhile ago and it seemed to fix it self the next day.
