Steam wont start

Ive uninstalled and reinstalled steam 4 times now and it still happens. I install steam and it works fine until I shut my computer down, then when I boot it up, steam wont come up. I double click the icon, wait about 5 minutes, and get a message that says: "Steam has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience..." The typical xp error message. It then gives me the option to send an error report or not. How do I get steam to work?

I just checked out steampowered, so...
TO ANYONE WITH THIS PROBLEM:
Apperently steam doesnt work well with xp, simply delete "clientregisty.blob and it fixes it at least temporarily.
