Nexuiz, a CryEngine 3 sci-fi FPS, was added to the Steam Workshop today, allowing users easy access to user-made maps. This marks the tenth game to use the service. The others being The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Dungeon Defenders, Dungeons of Dredmor, Naval War: Arctic Circle, Sid Meier's Civilization V, Natural Selection II and of course Valve's own Portal 2, Team Fortress 2 and Dota 2.
As well as providing a centralised system for players to submit and subscribe to user made mods and maps, and keep them automatically up to date just like Steam games themselves, the workshop also allows users to submit their models and skins for Team Fortress 2 and Dota 2 in the hopes that Valve will include them officially in the games and in the in-game stores. So far community contributors to Team Fortress 2 have earned over $3.5 million in hat-money.
In celebration of the game being added to the Workshop Nexuiz is having a free weekend and a -75% weekend sale. You can view the store page here or if you have your Steam client running you should be able to start the installation right now just by clicking this link.
We're expecting more games to continue being added to this great service including Counter-Strike: Global Offensive which launches later this month.
