Steam; you bastard

Hi

My steam often stops in the middle of connecting to a CSS server and gives me the error: "steam ticket expired". It requires that I re-enter my password.

Right now it has taken to not accepting my password. Bastard.

Bear in mind that I am connected to steam, it is just the CSS servers that dont like me...

Any ideas??

Thanks

have you got a proxy server or router connected?
Is it a friends server you're trying to connect to? if so, does your friend have a router?

Exit steam in the toolbar thats what i did, but after i did it was really laggy i dont know if its what caused it but.

Yeh, I had this problem - go to settings and make sure your password and stuff isn't saved. Exit steam, then log back in (you should have to type in your password again). Should work now :)

Thanks guys...

Like I said, it is an on again off again problem. I posted today because I wouldn't let me play at all. Of course now it is working again... Although I did nothing except give it some time...

But how can I stop this "ticket expired" from happening period?

P.S Please check out my new post 'Steam; you bastard 2'

I think someone else is using your steam account. This happens when 2 different people logged into the same account try to play the same game. I should know, I let my friend try hl2 for 2 hours and everytime I tried to play it showed me that message.

EDIT: didn't read other thread..

heh, I copied my C: *with steam on it* to my D:...formatted my C:, then copied EVERYTHING else from my old C: to a folder ON the NEW C: named cleverly "C" and Steam was in there...without reinstall it works fine...havn't isntalled steam yet on th is machine...so no registry keys expect from what it put on from updating and stuff ;) weird.

clientregistry.blob needs to be backed up after every update... restore it if this happens again.

gregornz, if you BUY and not steal the game, it will work for you. Steam never ask you to enter your password at that state for legit users, only if their account is stolen, and someone else is playing with it at the same time (so if it asks you to enter passwd every time you try to connect, it most likely means that you don't have a legal copy of the game, and you can't play online with other players).

I agree. A legal bought and regestered copy of the game shouldnt have that problem unless someone else is using your account.

Now now, just because that IS the error pirates get, doesn't mean you only get it through pirating. It can be to do with the way your ISP handles IPs, for instance.

Send angry PMs to gabe Newbell...I do that when I'm sleep deprived.

Well I have a perfectly legal copy of HL2 and I do get "Steam Ticket Expired" from time to time. Quite a few people had troubles with it when the latest HL2DM version was released (the one which added the stunstick and SLAM).

I had the same problem,I restarted and it was back to normal.
