Hey my name is Brooke, and I just bought Half Life 2. I updated all of the components to play the game including the latest videocard. However it seems as though STEAM is slowing down my computer. I can barely play online, and the offline mode is even more difficult. Is there anyway I can install HL2 without installing STEAM? HELP!

Sadly....your screwed.You need steam to play any of Valve's games.Your spanking new videocard wont help your computers speed.You might need a new processor.Brooke? A new female addition to the forums? Try closing down all the programs you can running in the background. Go to RUN on the start menu on your desktop,type in MSCONFIG in the menu go to startup and uncheck the items you dont need running,you would be suprised whats running in the background when your not looking.Also check your computers internal temperature***n a defrag.Make sure you have enough hard drive space.make sure you have enough RAM.That might help,i'll PM you iff I think of anything else
