Anybody play this game? It's a good turn-based wargame, with extreme realism. It's free (www.matrixgames.com) and well, it's loads of fun, if you get the hang of it.

Aye this is an incredible game, though it's really damn tough to learn or master.

Way too complex for me. I prefer to run this type of thing in Windowed, but there's not option. The only game of this type I could play was that old 2D Gettysburg game about 10 years ago.

Yeah, a bit too hard to mastr really. But I just love those Nazi rocket mobile artillery. And SS troops. And the King Tiger. And the Engineers with their flamethrowers and satchel charges.


And the feeling when you destroy a T-34 with a front hit with a 20mm autocannon, awesome.

I've been constantly thinking about Close Combat every few days for the past 3 weeks and I really, really want to play it again.

That's fine by me if you ever do wanna go for a PBEM round, the great thing about PBEMs is that it can take as long as you like, seeing as it isn't 'real-time'. I once played a 1 year PBEM game in Norm Kogers The Operational Art Of War 3.

I have short on time myself with looking for a job etc, but it would be nice for a PBEM game sometime.

I recommend you d/l WinSPMBT and WinSPWW2 too anyway, they're great games too, but they're based off the Steel Panthers 2 engine, rather than the Steel Panthers 3 engine(Which World At War uses).
