Instead of being live-action as expected, the Tintin pictures will be CG ? but with a twist. They won't "look" computer-generated; instead, they'll look photo-realistic, but the world and its characters will resemble the comic as Herg? drew it, mimicking the author's ligne claire illustration style and cartoony figures. State-of-the-art motion-capture technology will be used to transfer the movements of real actors onto the digital Tintin set. Apparently, Jackson's effects company WETA has already spent $1.7 million producing a demo reel for the trilogy.

I liked Tintin back when I was a kid so I'm happy that it is getting a big break. But Speilburg and Jackson?!? That is a teeny bit overkill wont you say? Plus how are they going to convert those cartoony dotted eyes and tiny noses to "photo-realistic CG"?

I would've thought youd be pretty happy, Spielberg and Jackson are two of the best directors in history and the Huge wads of cash that both of these directors have made pretty much guarantees that they will have artistic freedom on the project.

why would they take a comic known for a very stylized yet recognizable art direction and slap a photo-realitic look to it? it makes no sense

the business people are pushing the creative people out of hollywood ..I mean they couldnt dream up and dumber idea if they tried ...regardless if it's from jackson and speilbergo: a polished turd is still a turd

I dunno, im not gonna write it off without seeing a trailer or anything.

Was the art direction so important? The only alternative seems to be live action which would have none of the stylized art from the originals.

I wouldn't say so, Lynch, Rodriguez, Tarantino, Nolan, Spielberg, Raimi, Scorsese,Ball( i think thats his name, 6 feet under guy), Kaufman, Jonze amoung others( who are more talented then some i named) i can't think of right now, are still going strong. I think we're just overwhelmed by the amount of Jerry Bruckheimer's in Hollywood right now that we forget that there are still some pretty talented people around.

I barely remenber some tintin movies, they have that old adventure feel

but they should keep whit the classic drawing style

I'm thinking that they're trying something crazy with the art style, and that blurb might be misleading about exactly how its going to work.

I would love a feel like the new Simpsons movie with its great 3-D animation that is still in the Simpsons style, but this should still be awesome!! I am very (cautiously) excited for this one!! The Tintin books are some of my all-time best memories as a child!

Peter Jackson? Oh gawd, another three-and-a-half-hour yawn fest better not be on the cards. I'm watching you, Kong.

TinTin...

How the hell does photo realistic CG fit into the 2D drawings of Herge? Sounds like these two have more money than they know what to do with.

This is madness. THIS IS HERGE!

I would have hired Michael Gondry.

Damn you, Xiphos, for posting boro tintin before I could.

I remember watching TinTin at 4am on Channel 4 when I was 8 years old.

It's almighty!
