STOLE HIS CLOUDSONG!11111!!11one

Saw this ealier in the week, but the question remains, wtf is a cloudsong?
Is it actually important enough to bust a nut like that?

Some powerful item in Dark Age of Camelot, I believe. How to steal it is beyond me.

That reminds me of psycho-mom from a few days ago.

He goes so crazy

I suppose he wants it back quite badly :o

I totally understand him. I once got my IK Maul stolen on Diablo II!! Then I realized the IK maul sucks cock.

FYI... Cloud Song is what's called an "Artifact" in DAoC... artifacts are powerful weapons, armor or magical items (necklace, ring, cloak, etc) that have abilities other items do not. Each artifact has 10 levels, which you much "level" to unlock additional abilities. Artifacts have three parts you must have in order to be able to use it. First, the artifact itself. This can be gained by either buying it from someone, or by doing the encounter, which is the second part. The enounter is the battle which takes place with the monster or monsters that drop the artifact. Encounters are usually on a timer, so once it is done (sucessfully or not), the monster will not be back for a while. Additionally, encounters usually require working with a group of people (up to 8), and sometimes even several groups in order to complete the encounter. Everyone participating gets the encounter, but only one person can get the artifact per encounter. The last part are the scrolls. Each artifact has three scrolls you must collect to form a "book", which tells the story behind the artifact. The 3rd scroll of each story is generally very hard to find, so it can be very time consuming and/or expensive (in-game currency of course) to collect all three.

Once the artifact is dropped after the encounter, anyone in the group that killed it can pick it up. If autosplit is turned on (it is by default), it will be given to one of the members in the group, based on a calculation. If not, the person that picked it up will get it. It is customary to either raffle off the artifact, or if one person intends on receiving it (usually person that organized the encounter), arrangements are made beforehand.

God bless the person who was recording on Ventrilo.

Great way to start off my morning. Effin' hilarious!

That was great..I don't think I've EVER gotten that angry at people over a video game..funiest shit ever. Pwns the angry mom video by 100X's...now if the video showed the mom and her faces, I'd laugh.

Jesus ****ing christ!

That kid needs ritalin or something, holy shit.

I don't understand, why the guy who stole it, just keeps saying calm down, why not give him the artifact just back. I mean what does he expect when he steels from someone.

As assholish as that may be, I don't think anybody would expect the dude to have a freakin' aneurism over it. It is, after all, just a game.

Yeah, but that guy put a hard time getting it. it doesn't matter that it's just a game. It's as bad as stealing something in real life. Both are things a person is proud of, worked hard for, and has meaning to him.

Aye, but it sounds to me like loads of people have to work together to get the artefact, and only one gets it. So it's completely random - everybody has an equal right to the Cloudsong, and that shouty guy was hoping to get it.

Possibly.

Okay, I've never played Daoc but it's like that in WoW when rolling for items. I got bitched at by someone for 'stealing' an uber hat; in reality, we both needed it, we both had equal right to it, I won the roll. Sheer luck.

I'd argue that it's nowhere near as bad as theft in real life, although it is assholish. If he places so much meaning on a digital item in a recreational activity, so much that he nearly explodes when something happens to it, then he has issues.

Even then, we have no idea if this much-prized "cloudsong" was even stolen from him. As Sulkdodds illustrated, it could be a mere case of bad luck and somebody being a real sore loser.

I guess you just got to know when to retain your anger. Personally, I'd be pissed off too (makes me glad I don't play the game). It'd be like washing a car and then having the birds shit all over it again. You put all that effort in and it's all gone to nothing.

Just because it's virtual wouldn't make it any different. I bet some of you have done some work on the computer such as an coursework that took a couple of hours and then it's gets corrupted/deleted somehow.

Anyway, it was funny.
