In a surprisingly under-reported story from 2007, Mark Holley, a professor of underwater archaeology at Northwestern Michigan University, discovered a series of stones ? some of them arranged in a circle and one of which seemed to show carvings of a mastodon ? 40-feet beneath the surface waters of Lake Michigan.
If verified, the carvings could be roughly 10,000 years old ? coincident with the post-Ice Age presence of both humans and mastodons in the upper midwest.

Pfft. Why'd they build it there? It'll get wet...

In an even further shocking discovery, a large, 11 feet long, completely black monolith was discovered amidst some bones and what appears to be primitive tools. Professor Holley regarded this secondary discovery as "Probably not very important".

Yeah, I was as surprised as you guys.

And what appears to be the blueprints for this stone structure were found near the structure, drawn on a napkin.

That'd make a pretty sweet album cover.
