yeah anybody know why the cliff wallas look like this?

The only light source I have is from the sun,

is it meant to be like this? any help would be greatly appreciated,

Where is your sun shining? It looks like it's shining directly downward. Alt-Enter the light_environment and put -50 or something for the pitch to see what happens.
