Hi all, I'm having two strange problems and I'm hoping you guys can help me out.

Problem 1: Random letters are missing from the dialogue captions. So the previous sentence might look like: R nd o ette s re mis ng fr m the di l gue c pt ns.

Problem 2: Strange rainbows in some reflections

If anyone has any idea, I'd love to hear from them!

we need ur system specs pal.

Also is this a legit copy?

here's some more detailed info...

AMD Athlon XP 2500+ Barton 333MHz FSB Socket A Processor Model AXDA2500DKV4D - OEM

POWERCOLOR R98-PC3G Radeon 9800PRO 128MB DDR AGP 4X/8X Video Card - OEM

(plus 256MB of some random model that I don't know)

souns like ur GFX card could be overheating, take off the side to the case, try and clean anydust out of the case & the gfx card (get sum compressed air, works wonders) Do u have any case fans inside, eg one at front blowing air in, one on rear exhausting air, if u dont, get some, if u do clean them out, do they have grills? Clean the grills.

What Power Suppply u got, open the case & the PSU, top left of case loads of wires coming out of, shoudl tell u what wattage & voltage it has, tell us.

i'll try to get a screenshot tonight

power supply came with the case: ASPIRE X-Dreamer II ATXB4KLW-BK Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case 420W Power Supply - Retail

i'll take off the case and clean up in there and see if it helps.

have you guys seen anything like this before or are you just guessing based on what it might be?

thanks!

I blased the in side of my rig with leaf blower once!!!! there was dust every where!!!!!! it was pretty cool... it actually worked so good that now that how my dad cleans his rig out of dust, well, that short of good old dust rag and elbow grease! :D theres more dust hiding in your PSU then you know....

lol well i wouldn't suggest doing this often as u can damage some components due to the force of the air.

tha PSU should be ok.

yes this kind of problem is usually related to heat and drivers, what type of Graphic drivers u got? Run driver cleaner

uninstall ur current graphics driver & download the latest one

i actually just reinstalled windows (switched to dual boot system) so outdated drivers shouldn't be a problem.

heh, i think the leaf blower is a little extreme but i'll see what i can do..

on a related note.. my friend's parents' computer stopped working, so i cracked it open and found a blob of dust the size of a softball! everything else was completely encrusted in dust. after cleaning it off outside it worked fine :D
