Street Fighter Source

I am thinking of starting a mod which will be Street Fighter 2 on the source engine.

But before I do, I want to see if people actually would like to contribute or actually play the game.

So. What do you guys think? Would you play it?

I have long campaigned for a traditional one-on-one side-view beat-'em-up on Source- and I'd definitely play one!

But using the SF characters would doom it to failure through IP issues: you'd be better served starting a project with a unique cast, albeit a cast that could be inspired by any given franchise.

Indeed. Capcom would close your mod down quick, despite the fact that they're currently not (and have no plans to) creating any more fighting games.

But if you did create a Source fighter, I'd definately give it a go. Something along the lines of SF: EX, or KoF: Maximum Impact would be great fun to play online.

Use the characters from hl2 and toss in a few from popular mods that you can get permission from.

Give each his own attacks and all that fun stuff.

Just please don't have the control method be like ragdoll kungfu. thats just too damn weird.

Heheh, I had images of a very similar concept once upon a time.

Like you say, throw in a few HL2 characters (personally I think Dog, Gordon and the Vortigaunt have the most scope) and mix in a few mod creations.

I don't know... Fade from Natural Selection, Tor from Sven Co-op, that kind of thing. Could be pretty awesome if someone pulled it off!
