Street Fighter vs. Tekken

This thread reminds me, hasn't Darkside been a bit scarce around here lately?

looks tight
glad they're using the sf4 engine to implement tekken characters and not vice versa
and it looks like there isn't an insane amount of juggling, which is also agreeable

There's two different versions, one of which will be using the Tekken engine and gameplay style.

What.

Not too sure what to think about this, really. It was kind of inevitable yet I'm still shocked. I dunno.

Yep, he's right. This appears to be the Capcom version. The Namco version has yet to be revealed.

That's a cool idea. Would be overwhelming if they packaged them together. The good kind of overwhelming.

No PC version. ;(

that.... kinda defeats the purpose though doesn't it?
obviously SF fans will buy the SF version and Tekken fans Tekken so....
isn't it meant to bring more fighting fans together?!

This is one of those thing that you think will never happen. Kinda how Mario and Sonic collided.

No, it's supposed to make money.

EDIT: Shotgun King

Major pumped for this. I was a fan of Tekken before I was a fan of SF so this is a no brainer for me.

Holy sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeet! I did not see this coming, I'm a massive Tekken fan back from the PS1 / PS2 days. Shame I'll never get to play this though. Not sure what I think about the SF 'pause on hit' gameplay element with Tekken. It doesn't look right. Then again...if you took that away the SF fans would get pissy, you can't win.

Well. There's also a Tekken vs Street Fighter under Tekken rules. Something for everyone.

There will be two separate versions. One for SF fans and one for Tekken fans.
As in, completely different gameplay mechanics etc. What you see is the Street Fighter version. The Tekken version hasn't been shown yet.

I assume you would play a one-on-one fighting game with a 360 controller and not the keyboard right? Fighting games are probably the only genre on the PC that doesn't work well with a keyboard. At least for me anyways.

Yeah, since there's no other way to play games on a PC besides a mouse and keyboard.

I'm an old-fashioned PC gamer. (or was) I don't really know much about things like Xbox 360 compatibility with Windows. Plus I'm usually broke so when I play PC games, I just make do with the peripherals I have handy, which is a keyboard and mouse.

In fact, I don't really play any PC games released after 06' for the reason stated above so I've been console gaming lately. After all, the 360 is the poor man's gaming PC right? :p

There is absolutely no video game controller ever made that cannot be made to work on a PC. Heck, I got an adapter for $10 at walmart that lets me connect 3 different console controllers: GC, XB, PS2 (and any input peripheral that was made for these systems, e.g. my XB arcade stick)

For fighting games, I use an arcade stick!

Not to mention manufacturers have been making controllers specifically for PC for years (I remember seeing reviews for them in 90s PC mags :p).

Edit: Oh shit this brings back memories, a friend had one of these for his ****in' Pentium 1.

Almost looks like the Xbox Jr. >_>

ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS TAKE TWO JAPANESE FIGHTING GAMES AND SAY **** THAT AND MAKE ONE AND YOU GET RAW, UNABASHED AWESOME. CONSIDER THIS PURCHASED ONCE WE LEARN THE CAPS LOCK KEY AND GRAB AN XBOX HERE IN HELL.

Street Fighter sure is making a huge push this past couple of years. They are leaving a mark on almost every single fighting game out there.

Street Fighter 4
Super Street Fighter 4
Taksunoko vs Capcom
Marvel vs Capcom
Street Fighter vs Tekken

I won't be surprised by a capcom vs snk 3. Of all the other crossovers, those two games have the most similarity in my opinion, gameplay wise especially.

I aspire to one day be a street savvy fighter.

Combos are for Asians though, tbh. I like games that let me win for pressing the top botton a lot. (here's to hoping they dumb it down and sell both franchises to Activision for proper whoring, get some purchasable clothing, characters, stages, and most of all moves--why learn 'em when you can pay for 'um?.) Some game companies need to take a hint from ol' BK
