My electric guitar string on the 1st snapped yesterday. i think i tuned it too fast and tightly. i had to switch from Drop C to Standard E all the time. i have a acoustic guitar which sounds bad. i like something that is meant for heavy use, like playing heavy metal. i had some .010 gauge. now i want a .012 gauge. can u recommend me a good set of strings for electric guitars?

Elixer strings are the best for accoustic imo..

(a bad guitar can be made so much better with decent strings..)

im talking bout my electric guitar. my acoustic has a set of Martin strings, but the guitar itself is garbage....

Get some Ernie Ball Beef Slinkys or some heavier D'addario strings. Those things are great, but I don't recommend using them for higher tunings, as you don't want to put too much strain on your neck. If you go between E and lower, I suggest just sticking with some 0.10-0.46's. It's best to have a second guitar for downtuning, so you can keep heavy strings on it.

yeah... everyone keeps telling me to buy a 2nd guitar... i got some .011 -. 052 strings today for only $3 and the service is free! im collecting it tmr.

i stopped bothering to tune to drop c cos i always snapped a string tuning back to standard. :(

I haven't snapped a string in over 6 years now *touches wood* no, not that wood you dirty little monkeys!

Ha! did the exact same thing to my guitar not too long ago. Haven't gotten around to replacing the snapped string yet.

EDIT: And SearanoX, he might "wax his strings" regularly so there's a possibility he doesn't have to (heard waxing helps preserve the quality of the strings).

I've got some Ernie Ball super slinkys and I'm so used to them I can't bend on any other guitar. I've had the same set for ages though, and they're still fine.

ok, so im pretty much in a dilemna right. i dun noe if rhythm guitarist should have 2 guitars... i have an acoustic but its with my friend who lives like 10 miles from me. i take lessons and my teacher wants me to play in Standard while my band wants me to play in Drop C....

anyway, i got D'Addario strings for $3 and they are thicker this time. as for the tunings, i guess i should be careful next time.
