My new model, needs a few improvements.

The polycount is 1652..
Im worried about the smoother on the handle though, becuase I used a mesh modifier, does that mean it wont be smooth in source ?

Because source doesnt support 3d max's modifiers does it ?

What can I add for detail though, sawn off shotgun arnt very complex guns.

first of all you havent even removed the segment count on your barrels. You only need 1 for the barrel, then you choose 10 - 16 sides. After that delete the handle, then start with a box, work with extrude and bevel modifiers. Then you delete the trigger cous that is pretty insane, then you draw out a shape with spline tools and then choose extrude from the modifier window. Then put a few lights and remember to check off shadow, then post your updates.

Well for starters I dont even know how you do that thing you said with the barrels, and I when I created the box and beveled it didnt look smooth and rounded it looked a bit crap, and I dont know how to add lights properly, so your gonna have to help me out here.

sawn-off aren't that simple. where your hinge system for reloading? most of them have some detailing on the handle. check this pick for some ideas

sawed of shotty eh ?
well lemingzappa believe it or not boxmodeling is actually how we all make our models ... its an amazing way to conserve ur polys ...its the most efficient for lowpoly modeling
i suges u try that rand3d tut that i posted in ur other thread ... putting primitives together with extruded splines is not the way to go no ofense
edit: to reduce the polys on ur cylinders create them without height segments ....
to do this ....get the cylinder thingy and after ur satisfied with ur heigh and radius ... go to modify (dont change to mesh or poly mode yet) ...and decrease the height segments ....u cna also increase and decrease sides and othe properties.
and btw poly editing mode is much more powerful than mesh editing

You really have far to many pollys on the model and you really could reduce them loads! When you create a primitive object there are loads of different options you can have in that object, including the amount of sides and segments. Have a play around with these it really wont take long to understand what it all means. Have a good think befor you start a model and just remeber try to keep the polly count as low as possible. and if this makes no sence its because im kinda drunk

lemming, try doing the tutorials that come with Max. theyll teach you about Smooth Groups, but a lot of low poly modelling uses common sense, like getting rid of the unnecessary sections on your cylinders and deleting unseen faces.
