stuck at Higway 17 - bridge

Do I need to pass the bridge to get further and how do I do that ? I've managed to get up to the bridge, but I'm stuck. I've been walking around . There seem to be no more combines to fight. The base seems empty. However, there are som red buildings on the top that I do not reach. Do I need to go up to these buildings, and how do I do that ?

are you stuck at the very first bridge? if so, you follow the circular road round to the right, and then up the hill. then there is a broken bridge, that you use turbo to get over. then turn right and hit the road...

if you are at the big bridge, then you walk to the right (if you are facing down it) to the little bit of grass sticking out. then jump down to the next level, and go throught the door.
