stuck in Nova Prospekt

Can't get the force field down near the electrocuted alien at the plug point.
In the room next to it are 3 fuses, one is sparkling. Used 'use' on it, metal gate is open, but the damn force field is not getting down. How to proceed? Hey - I need you!

use the grav gun to pull the nearby plug out of the wall? thats usually how you kill the force fields

I could not pull the plug, but I could shoot it with the grav gun.

the plug is out. Might it be a bug in the program?

use the grav gun

take the grav gun and if you find a piece of debris nearby use that to knock out the plug

I must be one of the first to be that far in the game, as nobody else (apart from the lone wolf, bushmaster and robert) seems to be able to offer advice on how to proceed ;-)
