Everytime I get dropped off the little cabin I entered in the citadel, I get a red screen immediately, i.e. I am gone walkies within a second or so. No time to shoot or anything. I get a voice like "unregistered weapon found" and bang I am history. My health is at 84 and my suit at 73.

I tried entering the cabin with different weapons, but every time to the same result.

The weird thing about this is that it happens immediately after "loading...", so restarting the game merely results in another red screen.

Is this a bug or a feature?
Am I missing something?

P.S.: I am playing in offline mode.

I know where you are. Your not suppose to die but you are suppose to hear that voice. Have you tried restarting the chapter?
I'm trying my best not to spoil it but if you click "Start New Game" in the main menu you should be able to select that chapter....I believe it's Dark Energy. See if that works

Are you using cheats? I hear there are a few bugs like this if you use cheats.

Problem solved

The chapter trick did not work as I was stuck after the first ride in the capsule (cabinet was may be not the proper word, sorry) through the citadel and had not reached the Dark Energy level yet.

I did no cheats or tweaks. Game is out of the box with one online update after the steam registration. This is very likely a bug.

Anyway, what helped was quick-saving the game while the non-interactive (sub)chapter, i.e. the capsule ride.

Try the other one

If it is the scene that I think it is, then you're probably taking the wrong ride.

The front pod goes up and right, which is where you get blasted.
The rear pod goes up and left and will take you -after a long and jaw-dropping ride- to another area in that level.

Had this happen to me in a save.. reason was simple, yet weird.. about 2-3 seconds after you drop down the actual capsule/transporter/whatever falls off it's rail.

you get enough time for the game to reach the autosave point about 0.3 seconds before the thing hits your head dead on. no way to get away.

took me a while to figure out what was happening tho.

also fixed the issue by loading an earlier save.
