Stuck in the apartment

Hi!

I'm a beginner in the Half-Life world. I have come to an apartment in the begining of the game. There are some men in the apartment and then I enter the room the men become upset and they say "There is no time to loose. Up to the roof" and then there are marine soldats coming that hits me. How can I solve this problem? There are marine soldats in all stairs downwards and there are furnitures blocking the stair upwards.
I hope someone has time to help me.

When you go into the rooms with people and then the soldiers come in the door behind you, keep running away from the soldiers. I think you go through the rooms with the people and then up some stairs.

Don't try to go where there are soldiers in this part of the game.

The stairs going up should not be blocked. If so, wrong set of stairs.

i was stuck there too.there is another set of stairs going up,it is to the right i think of the blocked stairwell

I ran through the apartment and after the apartment I found a free stair upwards. Now it's going just fine for me.
