Stuck in the water puzzle under the hospital

I'm stuck at the part where you jump down a hole in the floor which collapses through into a big pool, there are loads of barnacles.

Swim under the fence to your right and get up on the metal walkway, get across to the other side and there is a power box on the wall in the corner, it sets a shit load of electricity off, and you must cross back without getting electricuted in the water and avoid the barnacles. There will an opened electronic door to get back up to the higher level where alyx will rejoin you.

What I did is kill all the barnacles (Or what I could of them)..Then look around for a blue bouyant barrel, use the GG and place it under the broken bridge (opposite side of room) to keep the broken bridge up.

Then, hop op on the broken bridge which is now held up by the barrel. There is a electrical switch that electrifies the water as well. Then jump from the end of the broken bridge to the next partition, then the next, and then the next again. The door is open now...

I'd done everything you've said except for switching the electricity on.

I had trouble with this part too and also asked how to do this section on this forum, at least I know now that I wasn't the only one

I may be in a different part but this part had barnacles too.

I did none of that. I went through the top of the elevator and let one of the barnacles pick me up when i was at the right height i killed it and lept over to one of the supports near a vent. Followed the vent and ended up above the room alyx was waiting in front of. Blew up the explosives in the room, dropped in. Turned on the power and opened the door.

On my first run, I noticed by switching the power on, the barnacles actually died cause their tounge things where in the water.
Too bad you can't zap 'em with the Gravity Gun.
