Stuck in Water Hazard - At the Washer

I was able to figure out that I needed to knock to washer off the ledge and then activate the pulley to raise the ramp, but I can't seem to jump over the gate.

I have spent at least 45 minutes at this one part. Eventually I just got frustrated and turned off clipping to get past it. But then when I come up to the guard at the gate, he just stands there and does nothing.

Does jumping over the gate trigger some kind of event or loading sequence that only occurs if you jump it, and if so, how can I jump higher so that I can.

(I always miss it by like an inch)

Maybe you need a bit more stuff in the elevator than just the washer? It worked for me but besides the washer I also put several bricks and some other junk into the elevator. Also, I started my run back in the water, to get up to a good speed.

Everything you can find, put it in the elevator, including the washer, then the ramp will be fully on the floor, and the airbot will go over it easily

It seems that you missed the boat, literally. I suggest that you start the game over. Play the game with clipping on and ask for help whenever you get stuck (or buy the strategy guide).

I always had clipping on during the game. I just turned it off that one time as an experiment.

Where in Chapter 4 do you find the boat? I never disabled auto saves, so I should be able to just load a save near that point.

Do you need to be in the boat in order for the guard at the gate to acknowledge you?

How the hell did you miss it? Its impossible you run right into it with a whole strain of dialogue, and ... its just impossible, there's no way to continue through the game without passing through that room with the boat... You had to of noclipped cause I see no way in hell its possible for you to of missed it. You don't remember seeing a girl halfthrough the tunnels in a room? She says something can't remember arg... but she opens the door for you and the boat is sitting right there in the water, she tells you to get in it, either you just weren't paying attention at all and walked right past it and out the door or you no clipped your way through the level.

arg, you may just wanna restart the whole lvl... Just hit new game and pick the episode, it should be called water hazard and you should already have the boat that way.

So that's why I kept dying.
I just figured that because I was never very good at FPS's, Half-Life in particular, that I just didn't know something.

After I died like 20 times I gave up and used God.

But now that I restarted the level and found the boat, I was able to clear Chapter 4 with only 3 deaths.

And just as a side note, I have two situations in which I believe cheating isn't wrong. (1) After you beat the game (2) After dying a sh*tload of times.
