Stuck on Nova Prospekt-Second Turret Defense

I'm stuck on the part of Nova Prospekt where you have 3 turrets to set up to defend yourself from the CP. It's the second time you have to set up the turrets. The problem is, the CP bumrush the setup, knock over the turrets, and proceed to overwhelm me with numbers.

I've tried picking the turrets back up in between waves, but the turrets won't stay right-side up after being knocked over once.

Where in this room is the best place to set up a defense? Are the turrets even necessary?

What I did was activated the turrets in the case. Although, you have to turn the turrets around, its worth it. What you do is use the gravity gun turn the turrets around really fast, then hide in the one empty spot. It is the best way to do it. You should never get touched. But, ALWAYS keep your handy-dandy shotgun right by your side. Because those damn manhacks can still get you. :p Hope this helps

I guess I got lucky. I stuck two, back to back, out into the hallway to the right (from tacing the turret cabinet) and one out to the left, facing in the same direction as the turret cabinet wall, then covered the other direction manually. Only once did a turret get knocked over and I was able to right it in time.

it is possible to cover all the area (you'll have to give up half the room to the combines though) and you're majoy part will be throwing back granades since all you turretns will be really close together.

Need a diagram to make it clear (it was a bitch beating that part on hard).

I quickly set them up in one of the little side rooms and sat at the back. Basically, the theory is to make sure they only have one direction to come at you from then its easy to gank them with your shotgun when they come up close.

here's my plan.

Basically, remember these points:

-hide in the turret compratments
-shoot combine if there are too many
-watch out for nades and try to throw them back
-periodecially, come out a little and check if if your turrets are still up by looking through the window

I just hid in one of the prison cells with all three of them in front of me, while holding the middle one with the manipulator so it wouldn't get knocked over (it took the most hits). No need to use any other gun, cuz you can pick up nades/manhacks, and the turrets actually act as a kind of shield.

After the second one, use your minipulator and bring one of the turrets with you, it will come handy in the last part.

I set up two facing one way with boxes around them so they could not be knocked over, and me and another turret on the other stairwell, use your minipulator to get the grenades from blowing up the boxes, because the combine will ignore them and shoot the turets themselves.

I found that the turrets were much harder to knock down if you put them right up against a pillar and then wedged it with a box or two. As long as you don't let a grenade destroy the boxes they will survive for quite a while.

Of course I ultimately got through that section by hiding in the turret locker with all the turrets in their lockers. But it was so easy that way it felt kinda like cheating!

I stacked the boxes to climb up to the upper levels and placed them there. I put one in the smaller balcony in the middle of one hallway, and the other two in the upper area where you originally jumped down from.
I stayed in the upper area and just ran between the two turrents, turning them back upright and assisting when needed. Pretty easy from there, I only lost about 2 health.

Yeah, that part is intense. I carried the 2 turrets from the first time Alyx tells you to set them up. I had 5 turrets going at once at the part you are at. I always had 2 facing the opposite way you pulled the turrets from. The last one i had facing foward. I guarded the other side. It helps a lot to have those 2 extra turrets.

i gave up, and used god mode, holding one with me, i pwned all the combine

I set them up in the room where they are stashed and ran between there and the otehr small rooms. Took quite a few reloads to get through, but it was a lot of fun, actually.

Took me 8 tries before I gave up and swapped to easy mode, then it was one try for success. Wish I'd thought of hiding in the turret hole or bringing a spare... LOL

I couldn't do it.

That is, until I used the boxes to block two of the entrances. You can easily cover Combine coming from only two places with 3 turrets.

Boxes man.

in the middle of the right hand corridor, theres a balcony leading to another small corridor.... i stacked some boxes and barrels, placed 2 turrets on ground level, then climbed up onto the uper balcony, placed the 3rd turret there and hid behind it....

nah pplz forget it. you don't have any tactics or what ? :p
Just place the turrets in the edges in 45° degree so they face each other AND the way the combines have to come in. place the 3rd turret in the middle way also in a edge and hide somehwere. then ... take their ammo and go on to next lvl. :)

I used the same technique. I used boxes, the table from upstairs, chairs, you name it. I covered two opposite ends, one on each side, and waited under the second floor walkway. Love that gravity gun!

Pff, I'm also there, but.. I got a problem.

I have no problems killing the combines, but.. There isn't anymore combines, no more is coming. And I'm still stuck, nowhere to move.
Is this a bug? Anyone else got it?

Here's how I beat it, third try, hard, no cheating:

Bring the first two turrets with you, like people said. Toss em into the cellblock without jumping over the balcony.

Go back into the office with the broken TV and fetch the furniture: table, file cabinets, everything. Including the chair. Toss them into the cellblock. Don't worry about crushing your turrets; those things are indestructible.

Here's the magic part: run back downstairs, to where you come in the double door. There's an enormous file cabinet lying on its side. You can't pick it up, but you can nudge it with the manipulator. Zap it upstairs and over the ledge into the cell block. This will take a decent amount of work, but it beats restarting two dozen times.

When everything's piled in the cellblock, jump down and barricade one side of the room that contains the extra sentry guns, health and suit zapper. Use the big, indestructible stuff (huge file cabinet, large file cabinets) to make the front part. From the inside, use barrels to fill any gaps and use boxes to prop the barrels from behind. Toss the chair on top; for some reason manhacks have a hard time getting around that. Nobody will bother you from that side.

You should have the table and a long file cabinet from the office. The timer starts when you unlock the guns, so do this last part fast:

On the non-barricaded side of the room, set up the sentry guns facing two in one direction and three in the other down the length of the cell block. Now lay down the table and the cabinet as little barricades for the sentry guns. They'll have a very hard time knocking those down and you'll be covered when you set them back up. Set it up right and you'll walk out unscathed, depending on how fast you are at catch-the-manhack.

I also have a problem with no more coming Combines. They're all dead and nothing happens at all. Girl tells me that she's coming to me and then there am I, just waiting and waiting.
What is the problem?
Also. I've had about maybe 10-12 badguys coming. I didn't even need to use the turrets. Playing on easy mode.
So. Is it some kind of bug?

Don't know about that bug, but as long as we're talking about the sentry guns...

It's fun to drag those five guns along to the next part where the hallway goes dark. Combine appears, combine goes down. That said, take care bringing them along to the end of that level: my pet sentry gun killed Eli three or four times.

Isn't the 2nd time when you are defending Alyx and the transporter?

That's the third time, and it's easy compared to defending the cellblock.

This was tough at first, but my way was pretty simple - put all three next to each other. Two facing forward and one right behind it facing to the side/back. The kind of cover each other, and it makes it fast to pick them back up.

sentry guns

I couldn't figure out how to put the sentry guns backup properly with the grav gun, not like I had a lot of time to do it. Is there a trick?

i had all eight turrets when defending the teleport, extremely funny.

the first im i did it though i oput all 3 turrets in fron of me in on of the cells side by side and they could nt fall over and the only thing that got me was a man hack.

ssbob: I found if once you have a lock on the turret, quickly look up at the ceiling, then back down, and it will be righted again.

thanks mucho

Sweet, thanks for the info. When I get there I will try to remember it :)

First, is there a word such as 'pwned' in the english language?
Second, what's the point? If you can't beat the game on your own, why play it?
