Stuck on what to buy

I am having a hard time deciding what to buy with a budget of around 5-6 hundred quid.

As a guide could someone point out a system on www.pcworld.co.uk and tell me what could run half life 2 on max (if poss). I dont need a monitor. Base unit only. Do need a decent graphics card though.

I have been looking around at pentiums, athlons celrons. I havent a clue whats best. Ill prob end up with a stick of celery if I dont get any help!

Had a quick look and all of them in your range, and even above it, have really shit graphics cards (some even have integrated graphics). None that i saw will run hl2 even close to the highest settings.
