Stuck Pixels on an LCD

So I get my first LCD monitor today and i'm very excited. I set everything up and fire up CSS. After playing a few rounds and being very pleased with the lack of blurring or ghosting seeing as how my monitor has a 8ms seek time I close it back to desktop.

Then a bright red pixel catches my eye right near the center of my monitor. I open different applications and no matter what, that same red pixel is everywhere!!

I call the manufacturer and they say they don't replace a monitor unless there are 5 or more stuck/dead pixel and Newegg (where I bought it from) said they'd give me a refund, but i'd have to pay $60 for a restocking fee.

So...I pay $60 to get another monitor which could possibly have another stuck pixel (or more) or learn to live with it.

I've heard of ways you can try "massaging" the pixel back into working but I haven't read or seen any techniques. Anyone else feel my pain? ;(

aww, that's bad, especially if it's in the middle

I don't have any idea how to get rid of it though.

Google "How to make stuck pixels" get 4 more stuck pixels.
:)
lol...

yep, do that and you'll successfully have stuck it to the man.

I once read something about 'massaging' them a little. Can't vouch for truth though.

when i purchased my 21.3" lcd as soon as i turned it on i noticed them at first i was like ARRGGHHH but you learn to live with them. Plus you dont really notice them when plaing games.

I had a green one in the middle of my screen, but its gone. i think it comes and goes :p

Yeah, that is how LCDs are in the consumer market. Luck of the draw. Personally if I bought an LCD and Compusa had one I liked, i'd just buy their replacement plan. Gets me a new screen within 2yrs and covers any of that without hassle. ;)

Not sure about online ordering. I think they have got better about how many screens have dead pixels but I know my friend has 1 or 2. It's typical and accepted within the industry.

Talk about dead pixels, check this out.

ugh, that would piss me off.

I'm happy with my GBA SP.

punch it, seriously that would create a bunch of dead pixels

one of the many reasons I tried LCD once and refuse to ever so much as look back.

i myself am honored to three stuck pixels in the lower left quadrant of my screen forming a god damned constellation on my sceptre x9g-gamer. two reds and a green. they render the screen unusable. i can get away with gaming if i put it in widescreen. movies is impossible. but the assholes at sceptre won't give me another one until i have SEVEN. and i can't seem to make any more pop up. basically i'm ****ed, all i can do is buy another one (looking at a 2001fp) and use it as a 2nd monitor for my audio software. but i still wasted 650$.

basically, don't order LCDs go get them at the store and pick one that is on display and that has no dead pixels. and you should be fine.

or stab it with a knife a couple of times.

I wouldn't do anything to physically mark/scratch the screen yet still let you kill the pixels - maybe just press it really hard? You can do the neat blurry finger thing too, what a naughty treat!

I must be very lucky in that every TFT/LCD device I buy has 0 dead pixels ... i've not seen one yet, but everyone else I know complains of dead pixels in evety TFT/LCD they buy.

I just have this really bad feeling that my luck will run out when I buy my next TFT. It can't last this long...
