Can anyone give advice on how to study, talking the following factors into acount:
The subjects I don't like I can barly bring myself to study
The subjects I like I'm so good at them I barly need to study
If my mam thinks I'm not studying enoughsee will kill me.

There's this little thing I like to implement at work. If I have to make a call or do something I really don't want to do and want to put it off, I JFDI it! (Just F***ing Do It!)

Seriously, whatever reasons you are putting these other subjects to the side for, remember that once it's done you'll stop worrying about it... because it'll be done.

So just f***ing do it! :D

Just put yourself in a small room, no distractions... get down to it, the difficult part is getting started. Once you start you can't stop!

Oh and my advice is avoid HL2.net while studying. You'll thank me for that one.

My brain works in a funny way.. memory is nearly all subconscious.. if I don't do something for about a week, it disappears into the ether.. however I can recall anything I've ever done ever, with the correct trigger :O from then on I'm ok.. I'm strange :D

Yeah, I was about to ask for help on this.. pretty much my whole Alvl course wrapping up in 3 day's hardcore exammage after halfterm :(

are you studying for the junior cert?

Try to make whatever your studying interesting. I know its hard but you can find a connection to anything when you look hard enough.

To get on with my work, I go down to the cellar. The main reason that helps, is because it gets me away from the computer. I bet asking this question is just another way to get out of studying, so just go away and do it. Find a room without a TV or computer and set yourself a task to do a certain amount. Do that much, and no less. Once you're done that much, you can decide if you want to carry on. But so long as you achieve your goal, it doens't amtter.

What I do is have some decent background music but so that I can't make out the words very well then it just seems to work. I can get on with the work fine but then I get bored and go on internet :D

Where'd your posts go??

On topic: Don't know what you're studying for (exams i guess), but what i do is attempt past exam questions. When i find one i can't do then i'll revise the stuff i wasn't sure on.

It's pretty satisfying to be able to answer an increasing number of questions. It's some tangable improvement that's good for moral.

Writing stuff down should help.
Although i have NEVER revised for an exam in my life.
You may not believe that but it is true

How did you do in the exams?

I had to write stuff down at Uni.
I think I've got a semi-photographic memory, but the stuff I was learning, I needed to make sure my photos were developed correctly.

Writing stuff down helps, as does discussing it with friends.

The best thing to do is answer example questions. Loads and loads of them.

I heard reading your notes outloud to yourself helps you a lot when you study. But be sure not to rush through your notes.

GCSE's without revision i flew through, A's B's
A levels without revision, B's C's
So not revising wasn't too bad.
But i recomend you do revise.

I'm doing 11 subjects I think, I kick ass at maths, TG science and business and I'm also very good at history and geography and got a C in all my languages in the pre's so I'm not too worried.

how'd the mocks go?

A "Mock" is a fake exam, to check if you're up for doing the real thing.

My advice - avoid having a computer with a connection to the net while studying. You'll only end up spending your time posting here, like I did.

Best of luck, kid. You'll do well if you believe you've studied hard.

Some of the revision tips in this thread has actually helped me, thanks. I just did 3 and half hours of revision for AS Chemistry.

It's a model from my mod - it's my face on a modified G-Man. Yeah, it's a pretty awful shot. I'll go take a new picture.

Im sure you've been told this loads of times but im bored... you can just put "-Angry Lawyer" in your sig, thats the whole idea :D.
Oh well...

Nah. I've typed "-Angry Lawyer" (or -Zaragopha) at the end of every single one of my posts I've ever made on any message board since I turned 16. That's three years of "-Angry Lawyer", and to stop now would feel weird.

Changed my Avatar now.

I don't think I could ever change my avatar :( maybe improve it :D but never change...poor noo noo. Maybe he needs a girl friend

I like it. The G-man on crack :D

That's actually my face. It's frightening how much I look like the G-Man, if I had black receeding hair and a really thin face.

...I don't look like that much of a crack addict, do I?

Nah I didn't mean that... I just meant the G-man all spiffy.

Wow that's you? I thought it must have been some artistic work you did on a G-man mod.

I reiterate.... I like it

I put on some good classical music, and get to work. All my music is on my pc though so... i have to be at another table, away from it to get anything done and not just change music all the time :p

You can get one with Windows Media Center or something like that.
And on the off topic avitar discusion, the shiny new Vortigaunt Revolution can be expected sometime after my exams ;)
