Valve just stalled the whole think for a year to see the response..

Just listen to Valve and their announcements.

If you want to get the right information that is.

P.S. Do not refer to all the delays, Valve knows best, no one else does, shut the ..

Listen to Valve?

How could it possibly be out when you can't even buy the damn game from Steam yet?

I know there are ATi Voucher holders that automatically get Bronze, but what if they want to upgrade etc?

I think it would be at least a day after you are able to buy HL2 over Steam that they would release CSS.

No no that's not true. I'm pretty sure you'll have the game playable right away after you pay. Otherwise you couldn't even check if your account validated or not. And that would make the whole point of steam a little ... pointless -> "pay & play right away" without moving more than your little finger, is the idea.

i thought that the idea of steam was to host servers and to auto-update the games you have installed?

i doubt that you will be able to buy hl2 online as a complete download? if it is then why the hell are all the game sites advertising HL2?

i thought you had to buy it and some of it was downloaded (pre-loaded) but you still need the main game on cd?

You can dl the whole game and purchase it through steam.

/hits head

Yeah I forgot about that. Maybe I meant to say they would advertise it being sold on Steam a day or so beforehand :cheese:

Nope, the whole game can be downloaded and played via steam, same for CSS and DOD plus HL:S

Whats happened is that if you buy from Steam, you are buying the game directly from Valve, while if you buy it in the shops, its through Vivendi (the middleman).

This is the reason the 'Gold' version of the steam release has things that the CE version in the shops wont have (eg DOD Source & HL Source) and why CS:S is being released on steam before the shop version (released with HL2)is avaliable.

The reason for the 2 different releases is that Valve have ONLINE distribution rights to HL2, while Vivendi have the Retail Distribution rights.

If you buy from the shops, alot of your cash goes to Vivendi, while if you purchase it online, all the cash goes to Valve.

Another reason to buy HL2 through Steam, not only do you get to play CS:S before its released in shops, but you are also screwing over Vivendi!

I doubt it will be released this week knowing valve. Meh I emailed gabe this morning asking him when can we expect it but I never got a reply .
