alright this is the most annoying thing, there is nothing on the internet about this problem but here it is. Everytime I try to compile a map that I have edited (fyi it is an SDK test thingy) but I get an error message that says 'gameinfo.txt doesn't exist in C:/program.' Yes the period and everything, all caps are correct everything except the ' and the '

The exact same thing is happening to me right now :| can anyone help us out? I already searched through the SDK documentation...

Okay. I'm having the same thing. What it is is the fact that you're junk is in "C:\Program Files\..." and it doesn't understand the fuggin' space. (I have the same problem) Now all my Steam stuff is in hear too. Program Files\Valve I believe... Can I just move the folder? Or what? This is annoying as hell that the program can't read a damn space in a file name. (What about using %20 for the space in the path? That's what HTTP/HTML/FTP uses...) Anyone have any solutions?

Can't seem to edit my post: Where the heck is everyone. We have dozens of eager mappers and no one can think of a possible solution?

Still can't edit. But I need to bump this anyway. Okay, so you can't do it like HL1. You have to hit F9, CHECK "DO NOT RUN GAME", and then compile. Then you have to run HL2 from Steam and load it. Using the console you have to type in "map <mapname>". (You don't need to exit HL2 to make edits, just hold Tab+Alt to shoot to desktop, perferably when paused or at the main menu) Okay, so all this is fine and dandy. Where in the love of jesus do you put the Map?! It can't find the damn thing. I put it in the default location, I put it in Hammer->Maps, I put it in Steam->Name->Half-Life2->Maps, etc etc. Where in the love of god is the compiled map supposed to be for the console to pick up on it?

Faulk_Wulf, I THINK i have the answer. see, what you do is compile it without running the game as you said, and then the compiled map should be in the ...sourcesdk\sdkcontent\maps or something like that. copy the BSP. file and paste it into the ...half-life 2\hl2\maps and it should work. at least, it works for me. hope this helps :)

Thanks. :) Testing... (No additional post/edit means it worked.) :D
