I just saw a commercial for Metroid Prime 2 and they are releasing it on November 17th!! I don't know how they think that they can compete with hl2 on that day.
 
Different markets.

Those Metriod games look pretty neat,. almost makes me wish I had a crappy GameCube with its cheap controlers and weak ass hardware.
 
They will compete just fine since Metroid Prime is on GameCube and HL2 is on PC.

The parade of quality just keeps on chuggin.
 
different formats...different buyers. But tbh, what ya gonna choose if u were in the PC and also GC market??? UBER realism gaming via hl2 ( youve waitied like FOREVER) or metroid prime..which will be in the bargain bin within the next year??
 
metroid prime kicked ass i cant wait for metroid prime 2. but of course hl2 first
 
I have a gamecube and it hands down has one advantage over the other systems. The Nintendo exclusives like metroid, zelda etc. Metroid Prime 2 will be awesome but I do agree, Half-Life 2 first.
 
who gives a shit about anything else except HL2 eh? thought so...

Hey there are over 20 games coming out on the 16th of November.
 
It's a different market with only a very small overlap; there are going to be very few people who go into a store on the 16th and have to decide whether to spend money on their PC or Gamecube.
 
There is a misconception that these are two different markets.
This is not so at all; though they are distinct, there is some overlap. I own both a GC and PC, and HL2 will take precedence over MP2 for me. Any other day, I'd be rabidly waiting at the gates to get Metroid, for the first one was a masterpiece.

Blasphemy! :)

Metroid Prime still puts most pc shooters to shame.

Cheap controllers! are you insane? (more comfortable the the Xbox pads and without the massive 'dead zone' that cripples the PS2 pads. Best, most responsive, joypad ever - along with the N64's ;))

Wipes the floor with the PS2 in terms of hardware aswell :p

And it has Zelda and the new Res 4.

Think I better stop now :) (but could go on all day)
 
I wish people could see past this kiddy image that Nintendo has gotten and see that the Gamecube is a brilliant system. And I agree I would rather use a gamecube controller than an xbox brick or ps2 anyday.

What gives you the impression it has weak ass hardware? Check out some screenies of RE4 one day.

No it doesnt use pre-rendered backgrounds like the older games.
And yes it is in real-time.
 
RE4 will be one of the most beautiful games for quite some time, there is no argueing on that...

Nintendo.com has the release date as November 15th - giving me one day to play it before HL2 comes out :( . Oh well, HL2 can wait.
 
Guess I'll be buying three games on one day. Metroid Prime 2, HL2, and Warrior Within.

Also, nintendo are the masters of controllers (and durability).
 
It also looks like that Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines comes out the 16th. Wallet says ouch.

Oooh, is this just COD for consoles or does it have new levels etc. ?

Man, I'm seriously considering getting a Gamecube, there's a few good deals out there (it's alot less than a new graphics card, even second hand). But, HL2 comes first, of course :)
 
All of the consoles are great buys if you compare to PC in terms of cost. The PC usually wins out due to modibility and quality, but the consoles are still fantastic bargains.

Of course, the Gamecube doesn't have a KB/Mouse adapter yet, does it?
 
From what I've seen, the kind of games GC usually puts out are best suited to a controller.
