Subscription pending? Subscription pending?

Subscription smegging bloody bastard pending?!!!! :flame:
Your subscription to HL2 Retail Standars has not been competed because Steam servers are currentty unable to process the transaction.

You won't be able to play HL2 Retail Standard until (gasps for air) the subscription is complete, we are sorry for any inconvience this may cause. The Steam team is working to rectify this situation and will notify you as soon as the transaction is complete.

Dont worry I just had this. It takes about 5 minutes or so for it to complete and then it will proceed to unlock the game files. Its doing that now for me. I was worried as well, but then it started to work

I get that too. I wish it would be slightly more helpful like TELL ME EXACTLY WHAT TO DO. Do i leave the window open? Close it? EAT IT?

my computer crashed while it was unlocking the hl2 files and i dont think it finished properly, my hl2 isn't working it says this game is currently unavailable. is there any way i can get steam to unlock the files again

Mine just unlocked. I double-clicked the CS:S icon to try and play it thena box popped up saying "Order still being processed" or something then the "Subscription pending" box Next button appeared.

So try starting CS:S

Why the **** do I have to be right?

Steam can't register me at this time, and then suddenly it gains a download bar to unlock the game; it leapt to 33%! And then it crashed. Restarted, and now it's just sitting there at 1/3 of the bar. Unmoving, unchanging, ungaming.

Why the hell did everyone except the Steam team see this coming? How long should the unlocking process take over 56k anyway?

urrrrghhh.

Edit: hmm, I forced mine to skip the registry error message by trying to boot up HL2 too. There's no way that I've ****ed up the authorisation process by doing that, is there?

urrrrggghhh again.

OMG i removed hl2 from my pc and then went to pre load it again and it took about 1 min to pre load and then went to update HL2 . it says HL2 will be ready to play in 202 mins !!!!! is this right ?!?! i hate steam :flame: :flame: :flame:

I've got a friend with a 512k connection who reported that it took him about an hour to unlock.

"Won't take too long"... **** you Steam. I've had it with trying to defend your myriad bugs and ill-timed decisions, I really have. What's the point of surveys if the team is going to ignore the user numbers and specifications? Seriously, do they set out to waste time?

God, I knew Steam would find some way of tarnishing the HL2 experience. What the hell am I meant to do with dialup? Is the unlocking process resumable? And why does my HL2 properties menu insist that I've only got 50% of the damn thing?

So many questions, and I'm all out of fanboy happy. Yay.

I'm going to blame Steam traffic, because I've heard statements from 3 hours (!) to 10 minutes... doesn't bode well for any future Steam-only games
