Steams one of the best things ever. I just brought my brother CSS. Took me like 2 mins. Max. Now if i wanted to go to the shop it would take way longer.

Plus it keeps all those games up to date for me. And acts as a pretty awesome server browser.

I am a 56ker and steams pretty great...
For something like Cs:S and such well I'd have to stay up to date anyway to play them online.
HL2's updates don't take at all that long even on a 56k. If they do just leave the dl on overnight.
If I don't want something updated I just use the pause feature.... I don't know where your going with this..
