It's often said that having a wide variety of taste in music is a very good thing to have while being a musician, so, in this thread; suggest a band from a genre that's not normally posted in here (Like, Jazz, Classical, R&B, etc. etc.).

I know you've guys all probably heard of Miles Davis, but Kind of Blue is a really brilliant album, and if you're wanting to diversify tastes and never heard Kind of Blue, check it out.

Look I know it's electronic but it's not really so so check the **** out of Laurie Anderson's Big Science EP.

It's a sublime piece of work. I first heard it at perhaps seven. This album has influenced my musical tastes since then.

God she's cool.

Weird, I thought I'd posted in this thread but when I checked back there was nothing... maybe not then

*shrug* Drudkh - When the Flame Turns to Ashes

Folky Ukrainian Black Metalhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=38mVT1lIfxgI kind of liked the Laurie Anderson one.

Oh man, I wish I could post a song from my dad's old band, which is basically the drummer yelling insults over top of completely free-form psychedelic jazz fusion. ****ing insane. A sample of the madness: "I'll throw you down a long drop, and you'll die from blowfly inhalation."

Unfortunately the webternet has no knowledge of such a thing, which is probably best for all parties concerned.

I know people will hate me for this, but Kind of Blue sounds like elevator music.

Subtle - Midas Gutz

Actually, just get the albums For Hero: For Fool and Exiting Arm. Increeedible, entirely genre-defying music with f*cking brilliant lyrics.
