(Suggestion) Offline Steam

Heres somthing I thought of when I finnaly set up my comp but didn't have my internet. Hey why dont they still let you play even when you dont have the internet? I'm kinda pissed here cause I need and I mean NEED garrys mod V.83b or whatever. But you may say "impossible" but I say Nay! Steam will give you a desktop game thing. It has all your mods on it but it does not update or anything like that. So yep thats all. :x

Initial internet access yes, then you can play in offline mode. Otherwise no HL2 for you. The internet is uber cheap.

Connect to the internet. Open Steam. Right click on each game and select Properties. Ensure that a) all games are 100% complete and b) that they're offline ready.

Once this is done, close Steam. Disconnect from the internet. Open Steam. Click on Start in Offline mode. You can now "Play steam games without internet".

When we had a storm we lost internet access and steam wouldnt even let me play on offline mode.

Yes, the Internet may be cheap, but what about those of us who lack anything faster than a dial up connection? It took me over 4 freakin' hours to installed Half-Life 2 and HL:S!!!

I wish Steam would figure out a way to beam us what we need to play the games through thin air; they've apparently got teleportation to other planets down...

I've had HL2 reinstalled now for a grand total of two days (this is after spending hours online updating it when I installed it and whatnot) and suddenly, as though for nowhere, Steam tells me I am no longer able to play offline because my server is not logged in my computer?! WTF! What does this even mean?! Why does it work perfectly fine for a few days and then suddenly STOP?!!
