In selection mode, the user can nudge objects/vertices in the 3D viewport using the arrow keys. The user's current camera direction determines which plane the arrow keys will translate the object/brush.

I have noticed that I cannot translate at all in the 3D viewport using the mouse, as I am forced to use the arrow keys. However, I can use both the mouse and the arrow keys for translating within the 2D viewports.

Interesting detail: Within Tools>Options>2D view tab, the user can set the "arrow keys nudge selected object/vertex". Even though this setting is located under the 2D views tab, nudging still works in the 3D viewport. (Note: make sure your mouse pointer is resting within the 3D viewport when using the arrow keys in order to nudge.)

If I didn't miss something in the User's Guide and mouse translation functionality does not exist for the 3D viewport, then I would be very happy if the developers would take care of this issue. Translation could be achieved on a selected object in the 3D viewport using a combination of Shift+LeftMouseButton or Alt+LeftMouseButton while moving the mouse.

Has anyone else, especially 3D modellers and former UT Editor level designers (UT Editor had this functionality), feel a little awkward about the inability to translate in the 3D viewport with the mouse in Hammer?

Workflow is everything.

Thanks
