So I have been back from my vodka funded bicycle adventure since the end of August, but it has taken me a while to organize photos and get doing stuff. I still have yet to go back and finish my little blog page from the trip I took over a year ago now.
The last update I gave was over a month ago after I broke my collar bone. That is mostly healed now, but I have a big lump where the fracture was. I took 7 days off, and then I tried riding a 90 mile day which ended with a mountain. It hurt a lot, so I took another 3 days off and it was fine to ride a bicycle.
The rest of the trip was mostly riding through the desert and then sleeping in motels. Mostly we stayed at Holiday Inn Expresses. I ate a lot of Mexican food. There was some drama with everyone being cooped up together for two months.
Here are some photos that will hopefully make everyone jealous. Sadly, I sat on my camera and broke the screen in Tuscon, so I have no pictures past Arizona. I also plan to set up a "photography" web page so that I can pass myself off as a photographer and try to get some sponsorship for a climbing expedition in the Pyrenees next January.
This was somewhere down south. Just a cool morning in general.
I shot this while I was riding in the van after my accident.
Arkansas swamp. I got a million bug bites from these nasty things called chiggers.
Drying out after the rain.
The support van. Notice how tired the driver is.
Crossing the street somewhere in New Jersey. Four riders got summons for riding on the sidewalk.
This was the sunset from the top of mount Nebo, Arkansas that we rode up (and back down). It was an 18% grade for 4 miles at the end of a 90 mile day, and I had a broken collar bone. Many riders didn't make it.
This is what most of the promotional events looked like.
The view for most of the trip.
Somewhere in Texas. We spent a lot of time in Texas.
Typical hotel room. (Emily Morgan in San Antonio)
That's actually a church where I got some free snacks on a Sunday. It was 115 degrees outside, and I was called crazy several times.
More of Texas.
Chilling at the pool.
Nightlife in Oklahoma city.
At the bar somewhere in Oklahoma. The whole state only sells nearbeer. It sucks
Looking hot.
Continental Breakfast.
Checkpoint in Texas. We saw more border patrol cars than non border patrol cars.
Gold Sprints at the bar. That's me on the left kicking ass.
These aren't really related to the bicycle tour. They are just really funny advertisements that the sponsoring Vodka company does.
