You know what i'm talking about

the $100+ game packages (ex. Halo 3 legendary edition)

what are your thoughts on em?

If people are that big fans of the game, they should go for it, but for me I don't care if a get a stupid helmet or a hand bag or some dumb shit I don't need.

Therefore I voted the 'I just want to play the game'

Personally, I think the Deluxe editions are cool to HUGE fans of the games, and yeah I did buy one for Halo 3.

Sure, if you like it enough then of course you're going to get it. Half-Life Gold edition with the soundtrack and whatnot of course I eat that shit up.

The only I've ever got or will be going to get is the Spore Galactic Edition.
Just because the goodies it comes with look pretty cool.(making ofs, national geographic dvd, posters, etc.)
Only $80 too.

Mother****ing Fallout3 Collector's Edition
Mother****ing RA3 Collector's Edition
Mother****ing HL2 Collectors Edition (SO CRAP) ;___;
Mother****ing CoV Collector's Edition

And of course GTA San Andreas was always a collector's edition thanks to the sheer amount of crap inside.

I wish Valve would make a cool in-game prop (not like plushies) for the HL series like Bungie did for Halo 3 and Epic did for Gears of War 2. I would totally get a special edition for something like that, or even if they just made something like that avaliable in the Valve Store.

Why crap?

Part of it was a 'OMG THIS IS THE FIRST GAME I'VE SPENT MY OWN MONEY ON" and also my dissapointment at no poster. Hell, there wasn't even a substantial manuel.

All I got was this lousy t-shirt.

This lousy, x-large t-shirt.

(They all had x-large t-shirts)

Thanks whoever was promoting Valve's collector's edition.

I don't really care, i just want to play the game.

Wish I had the money for them but really in the sense that I see they're worth it. up to 100 pound for the halo 3 helmet when it came out? No way.

The only thing you got from HL2 collectors edition is a t-shirt? lol.

I think I'm buying the Red Alert 3 package, and it's just for about 50$.

Haven't found one that interests me.

I enjoy a lot of games but I'm only a big fan of a few, since Collectors Editions and such are usually aimed at fans there aren't a lot out there that I'd be interested in.
With Collectors Editions tending to be significantly higher in price than the stand alone game even the ones I'd be interested in would have to offer compelling content for it to be worth it.

I'll be taking a look at what's to offer in the StarCraft 2 and Diablo 3 Collectors Editions and of course I'll be interested in anything Valve comes up with in the future.

I bought the original Witcher special edition. Came with a soundtrack CD, a fantastic art book, a making of DVD and a world map. The Enhanced Edition contains even more, and I'll be buying that too.

If there is a Collectors Edition, Limited Edition, Deluxe Edition for a game im buying it. Love them!

Bonus content doesn't interest me in the slightest, I doubt that any of the gubbins that comes in these packages are worth the extra cash.

I'm all for such things as Game of the Year editions or similar titles, where you get additional content for free (or even cheaper) than the original retail price.

RA3 comes with the soundtrack, poster, making of RA3 dvd, beta key for next C&C game, fancy box, and of course RA3. So yeah. I wants it.

how about clothes? like hats and t-shirts?

does anyone actually wear them?

i think that's super geeky. i'm a bit geeky too, but that's where i draw the line: no video game themed clothing.

if they would give me a shirt that wasnt extra large then yes i would wear it. . .geeze, would it kill them to print a few different sizes?

I don't see why.
People wear music t-shirts, movie t-shirts, tv show t-shirts, sports t-shirts, and a few other things... why would wearing a video game shirt be any different?

Chose "Just want the game" but I kinda go for the last one too cause all of these people followed suit after the first guy had success with it.

I'm a sucker for extras. T-shirts, soundtracks, art books...especially the art books. Even if I'm not a super huge fan of a game I'm interested in purchasing, if there's a collector's edition with an art book I'll buy that version.

Some of them had nifty things that came with the package, so I bit.

I could careless for the extras most of the time, i just love having that unique box.

I'm with Asuka on this one, though not quite to the same extent. I saw your MGS4 collection, we didn't even get the special edition in this country and you have ones you're not even opening! Oh the injustice of it all.

I'm gonna miss game boxes and special editions when it all goes digital distribution.

I bought halo legendary edition with my cousin, so it was about 60 dollars each. We love the game to death, but we don't place it above anything. We still like the helmet.
