Now that two third party characters are in a Smash Brothers game Snake and Sonic this could and will lead to more third party fighters. Who would you like to see?
(note this is just a list of popular third party characters and I do not have any prefrence for any of them. Please do not flame)

Gordon Freeman - Half-Life - Valve
Cryptosporidium 139 - Destroy All Humans - THQ
Mega Man -Capcom
Veiwtiful Joe - Capcom
Amaterasu - Okami - Capcom
Dante - Devil May Cry - Capcom
Knuckles - Sonic - Sega
Tails - Sonic - Sega
Grey Fox - Metal Gear Solid - Konami
Psycho Mantis - Metal Gear Solid - Konami
 
No Phoenix Wright?

Leon Kennedy, or who ever is in RE5.

Tbh I was fairly surprised there was no RE character in Brawl.

Megaman too probably

Edit: I just realized this was who we wanted and not who we expected and that it was meant to be 3rd party

For the record Ridley better be in it. Kirby has three franchise characters for **** sake! If every character gets their enemy where the hell is Ridley?
 
I voted Dante, Megaman and Amaterasu because they each have interesting and unique ways to appear in smash.

I just read an article today about this sort of issue.

The problem comes in that Nintendo has created no new character-driven games (as in, brand new IP with new characters) in a few years (I think he said Pikmin was the last major one?).

I voted for Gordon (well it's an HL2.net site after all!), Dante, and Megaman.
 
See the problems with someof these characters is that they would end up being yet another set where each one is identical to an older character.

Megaman = Samus

Dante = Roy/Marth/New guy

Tails = Take a guess

Gordon = I could see him ending up quite similar to Snake.

Now don't get me wrong, I would love to see these characters make it, but like Iced Eagle said, Nintendo has for the most part been riding the wave of past successes.

Damn didnt know i can vote for more then one till after. Add 1 to Grey Fox and Psycho Mantis
 
Mega Man is a no-brainer. Tails and Grey Fox would make good follow-ups to Sonic and Snake, each similar but with their own unique moves. Also Amaterasu, if only because a celestial brush final smash would kick ass.
 
Mega Man and Knuckles. The others do not interest me. Grey Fox is in Brawl as an assist trophy anyway. It's because he's boring. I just think Knuckles is cool but with Mega Man, the possibilities are endless. I'd love to see a Street Fighter in there. Dr. Wily's Zero (X3-7) would be kick ass.
There also needs to be a couple more female characters.
 
I voted for everyone but Gordon.

Why you ask? Because I don't want to see Gordon who has always been just a FPS character in this kind of game. Especially since he will be brought into the game like Solid Snake was with half witted powers. I mean seriously, what the hell is Solid Snake doing in this kind of game? He throws nades and shoots people if I'm not mistaken. Awesome powers by the way. I guess it kind of captures his gameplay type, but it seems so lackluster and out of place to boot.

Lets see.. The only thing that would remotely be fun is if Gordon came in with the Gravity Gun which is unlikely, but that would be the only difference betwix Solid Snake and Gordon. Unless he gets a portal gun in Episode 3, then that would completely **** up the Super Smash Bros. universe. When it gets released on Nintendo's NEXT console.. :|
 
I agree with you on Gordon being a dumb fit, but Snake actually works pretty well, and I enjoy playing as him.
 
Veiwtiful Joe would fit in very well in SSB.

EDIT: Damn I thought I could only vote for one guy and I voted for Veiwtiful Joe.

I just want to know what you can do with Solid Snake. Stigmata said you can throw nades and you can shoot people. Are there any other special feats you can perform with him? Am I missing something?

Snake is explosives-based.

Smash attacks:

Side-Smash: RPG shot at the ground in front of Snake
Up-Smash: Mortar shot into the air
Down-Smash: Proximity Mine buried in the ground (can hurt Snake)

Special attacks:

Null-Special: Grenade (can hurt Snake)
Side-Special: Nikita Missile
Down-Special: C4 Plant (remote detonated - can hurt Snake)
Up-Special: Cypher drone (no damage)

He's a highly tactical character when it comes to Smash. Snake is quite slow but powerful.

He's also my favorite character :)
 
I'm thinking Phoenix Wright.

Or an Elite Beat Agent.

Or a Ouendan guy.

That would be rad.
 
Knuckles is a no brainer, everybody needs more echidnas.
Tails would be cool too... couldn't really see him having a wide variety of attacks though.
Viewtiful Joe would be awesome in the SSB universe what with his look and all.
I guess Mega Man would be obligatory... he'd be like Kirby(being able to acquire enemy powers) meets Samus(gun blasting).

Yeah, it's been 6 years or something like that since Pikmin, and it had been about 6 years before Pikmin since their last original characters/IP.

It really is about time Nintendo got something new out of the door!

I agree with everything Amish slayer said on this one. Snake, when well used, is the most powerful character in the game. His upsmash alone has won me games. Tis my new favorite.

Also, I see no reason to add 3rd party until the missing nintendo characters are here. Metroid is arguably the third biggest franchise and has one character. Add an enemy like they did for everybody in melee. RIIIIIIIIIIIDLEEEEEEEEEY

RE has nothing? WTF. Give them Leon or the RE5 guy (since it will be out by then).

For 3rd party megaman would be most likely. Gordon Freeman could have a very unique character, but the likelihood of him being in SSB is not good.

He still seems incredibly out of place for such a game. However, his "moves" are impressive. At least they captured the essence of Snake which seems to be explosives and guns and tact in a not so tactful game.
 
None of them. They'd all suck. I actually think we should do more nintendo games, too many links and foxes anyway.
It'll all go to shit if they just let in whoever.

Why stop with Leon? What about Pyramid Head from Silent Hill? He could rape the female characters. Or those twins form Crimson Butterfly? Oh I know! That daddy molseting monster thing from Silent Hill? That would be perfect for a game that also has Mario, Sonic and Link in it. :)
