Surround Sound Earbuds for FPS?

Would these handle 5.1 surround sound in HL2 and CS:Source?
earphones!
If not, do I need a Sound Card for my PC to handle 5.1 or can I use my integrated hardware (it only has 1 line out)?

Well those have only one plug and would probably be just really nice earbuds. I have friends who bought surround sound earphones and they say its ok at best, doubt those are any better.

In short, I dont think it really matters which you use, on-board or card.

I just wanted to know if it matters because I've seen some surround systems and they have like 3 plugs for a PC's line out and mine only has 1. If I buy a surround system I don't want like 2 speakers to work and the rest just lying there quietly.

you'll need a soundcard, the three plugs for 5.1 surround. I doubt those ear plugs would work very well, if you are stuck to headphones, have a look for the Zalman 5.1 surround headset.

But i dont think they beat a good speaker set up.

Ahhh, I thought you were just asking about those plugs. As Rocker stated in order to get the surround sound you need the multiple outputs so yes a card would be needed for true surround sound.

You can only get earbuds in "2.0".. I am pretty sure of that. There are some fairly expensive 5.1 headsets you can buy.

All the 5.1 earphones ive tried are not all that good. In fact there not all that different from my sennheiser PC150 for surround sound quality.
