my new surround sound system for my pc works great for games, but when i play music the rear speakers dont put out any sound. Is this normal, or is something wrong? I would think they would at least put out stereo sound

Have you checked if your surround sound program is actually set to more than two speakers?

had the same problem too, like he said check to see if its set onto more than 2 speakers... ie..5.1, 6.1... etc. Check in your sound menu to see if the rears are muted or turned down at all. (and are all teh cable hooked up?)

PEACE

yeah i tried all of that and i still have the same problem. It works with some games, but not others, like it works with css and half-life 2, but not world of warcraft. im gettin angry

What kind of surround sound system do you have exactly? Logitech, Klipsch?

It's normal since music is stereo. Not sure why you would want multiple speakers playing stereo in such a small space. It makes it muted imo. Creative may let you although I don't recall how or where the option is.

Try using winamp and changing between WAV and Directsound for the input, does that do anything?

Doesn't it have something to do with how the music was recorded? Notice how on headphones instruments are separated amongst the 2 speakers. Drums on left, guitar on right, vocals on both, etc.

Give us more information on your setup... sound card... digital or analog? etc

yeah i figured it out, i guess most music is mono, so if you have a creative labs card you have to go to the eax console and enable 3d sound.

Mine was doing that but I had it on the wrong mode. If yours has a effect button on it just keep hitting that button untill all the speakers work.

Nah man 99% of music is stereo, not mono.

If you'd have done like I asked and posted more specs, I guarantee I could've helped you. I'm a master when it comes to surround sound and PCs, as evidenced by my fully integrated 900 watt 5.1 home theater.
