SVN Hosting. Advice Needed.

Hai.

So I've got these mods I'm working on. One comes in at just under 600 mbs, and the other is barely over a gig, and both are expected to grow. We use an SVN system to keep them updated and to make it easy for people to update/download/etc.

We've been using Assembla.com, which has been fantastic, but they're working towards scraping support and hosting for free, so I'm trying to find some other place we could potentially host it.

Google turned up http://www.svnhostingcomparison.com/ which looks helpful, except that I don't know what half this stuff is. Of course I've heard of SourceForge and Google doing this kind of thing, but I don't know much about how they actually work, if they allow private ones, etc.

Does anyone have experience with having SVN repositories hosted / know any good places I should check out?

For the SVN Nuclear Dawn uses Multiplay.co.uk, who provide free hosting for projects/clans on the proviso they get quarterly progress updates and that you put their brand in a good light.

I'm sure there must be hosting under similar conditions in North America, what about Nuclear Fallout?

I think he'[s after hosting rather than an SVN client. But ND uses TortoiseSVN too, for that matter.

I have a SVN account on SF and another one on Google Code.

I think Multiplay does that because ND is a multiplayer mod. The ones in question aren't.

For the remainder of this thread, yes, we use Tortoise SVN, and Google and other things of that nature only host free things if they're open source.

You're almost certainly right about MPUK, I forgot about the specifics of the mods you're involved with.

You can get free, private SVN hosting at IGN's ModCenter. It's kind of crummy, but it works. As far as I know there aren't that many alternatives unless your code is open source (required for Google and SourceForge for example), or you're prepared to pay a monthly fee.

Oh yeah I forgot about ModCenter. Actually quite a lot of features but not in a very appealing format.
