SWG JTL Veteran award!

lmao... nice..

But this just screams of:

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DONT CANCEL YOUR SUBSCRIPTION!!! :E

Too late. I cancelled my subscription about a month ago after getting incredibly bored with the game. I never intend to play it again.

Omfg, paying for the game for 8 months and only playing it for 2 has finnaly paid off! If I waste money on the expansion....

errrmmm.. wont the ship become very worthless due to the fact you cant trade it and LOADS of people will have it? whats the point, it just means that nearly all of the players who hav wasted most of their recent lives playing this game get a ship thast not even rare... i thought there was only supposed to be one lady luck as well :|

i find SWG incredibly boring. its just the planets... i went to tatooine, naboo, rori then i gave up. they all looked like the developers had got a small patch of land, then just repeated it over and over again to make a planet, and put about 5 - 10 cities on it that all look EXACTLY THE SAME. i might have liked it if it hadnt of looked so boring.

thats why i like WOW... im sure it will be just as good combat wise and EXP. wise, but i just dont have to shoot frogs on tatooine anymore. WHAT A RELIEF.

p.s. i only played the free trial :p

EQ2 looks to be the best MMORPG coming out. It is suppose to focus a lot on teamwork and story and smaller raids instead of the 200 person guild orgies.

Same here, I gave my account to a friend. Sony can stick their holos and their spaceships where the sun don't shine.

Everytime I try to make a thread about SWG, people come in and start talking about how much it sucks. If you don't like it don't post. Also, this isn't the only veteran award, there are several others they have planned.

This is a forum for discussion. We are all entitled to give our opinions.

These ideas seem like desperate attempts to keep players from cancelling their subscriptions to me.

yup, as long as its about SWG we can say anything at all.

(thats what a discussion is...)

SWG is a good MMORPG, but its nothing special. sony are just desperate to ensure that loads of people will buy the expansion. i dont know why they bother, thoasands will play it mindlessly anyway... same with any MMORPG. sony are just reeling in teh profits any way they can...

but seriously, the developers did a good job, they just didnt add enough to the game IMO. its not like it would have been easy to make the planets interesting, but they could have tried...

anyway, nightnight all :)
/me sleeps

The Star-wars universe is fantastic, its full of mystery and the force, good versus bad is what made the films (the originals) fantastic. Surely they could make a superb MMORPG from this? well, they haven't.
Im half-way through my trial, and im sick of the game already. Tantooine is boring, you have to run around (thankfully with use of the auto-run feature) for hours until you get to your quest (which are all the same, just with different creatures) and dont let me start on the interface!!
Anyway, where galaxies has failed, others shall improve and i really can't wait until World of Warcraft, thats another universe that'd be a fantastic place for an MMORPG.

Oldagerocker, you could have gotten a landspeeder for 5K worth of credits.

Galaxies hasn't failed. Quite the opposite actually. WoW is not going to be the god send that you all think it is going to be though.

i dont think you can really comment on WOW negatively at all seeing as it is not even out yet. all we know are the good things, and so far it looks very promising.

one thing is certain though, it will look and feel much better than SWG- and you dont need to play it to see this. just look at the screenshots of SWG- barren desert, or boring plains of grass, or boring marshland with the odd hut. all boring flat land with lifeless enemies. out of the many planets i wnt to in my trial all of them bored me.

but WOW's locations have amazing potential and look brilliant. the world is imaginitive and forests and trees scatter the landscape, with interesting objects and unique land sculptures. SWG, on the ohter hand, had none of this. Rori, a supposedly jungle planet (as you can see trees covering the horizon) never had any forests. just an individual tree now and again.

im not saying WOW is a better game, im just saying the enviroments are better. because they are... its not really a matter of opinion, its just obvious...

*edit* and i agree that SWG hasnt failed, in fact it has flourished. but that doent make it a good game.

and by the way im not one of those people who automatically think its crap, because i origonally loved it when i started my trial... but then my freinds played it and said it was appauling. i origonally defended it and said that it would get better- and that its just because tatooine was a crap planet and the quests are poor here...

...but it didnt get better.. in fact it got worse. i went to my freinds house (who has been playing for almost 6 months) and i saw all these items and artifacts, but nothing that was really interesting. he showed me his best items and they were all boring. just a crappy, plain rifle that is amazing in combat... but a pain for the eye. SWG doesnt reward you for playing... not enough, anyway. I went through loads of people houses and there were no decent items anywhere...

the reason i like WOW is because it is a fantasy game, and the most advanced do far... plus i love the warcraft theme. but seriously, this is nothing to do with the games themselves- only the setting- but i would much rather foge a sword with recorses and then enchant it with a magical spell to make a super sword, or gether the ingredients for an evil armour and enchant it with a frost encumberance... that make a plain rifle and "upgrade" it by sticking a muzzle on it. its just not very imaginitive.

You OBVIOUSLY haven't explored. You probably went like a few k from the cities, and never even went to the star wars places.

i dunno. im not being sarcastic here, but could you explain to me what areas there are that make it so great? i just never saw anything.

i went to some of the special places, like ben konobis house and the spacepod landing, plus loads that i hadnt heard of before. i got about 10 badges when my trial expired. i played it wuite a lot, and i enjoyed the character system... i just didnt like the enviroments. i would have probally liked it more if i haddnt chosen the NEWEST SERVER :flame: :flame: with no people on. that was so annoying.

I went to all the Star Wars places..I even got all the special place badges or whatever they are. SWG looks great graphically and all..but its just boring and doesnt live up to my expectations.

I will admit that SWG's ground game is not the best of them all(even though I still love it), but this thread was made for the JTL, not to bash SWG. So please, discuss JTL.

JTL space combat looks pretty tame to me. Especially when I can just go play a game like X-Wing Alliance.

the only game i played like it is freelancer, that was amazing, and SW rouge squadron, which was kinda OK. if the combat is even slightly bad it will ruin the whole thing... they HAVE to make it perfect.

Ok, they took the EXACT same physics and space engine(like controls and everything) from X V T, they even said they did. So.... jesus, all you guys can do is think of ways to make this game look bad!!! ARGHIOAHFAW!DF>AWEF

no, i mean space combat must be great for any space sim... especially SWG. imagine if in WOW they got the spells wrong? it would be terrible! or if in CS the guins didnt fire properly!! all im saying is that the core elemen of the expansion is such a tricky thing to make, that it would be easy to get it wrong. ESPECIALLY as it is an MMORPG. the same applies to any space game :P just this one will have millions of player killing each other at once, so it has to work.

Well, X v T was a huge success... So unless you think that X v T sucked, then... ya.

tested opinion

well i'm currently testing the JTL beta and i have to say i'm a little less then satisfied. granted they are still ironing out the bugs but it is a first person shooter with a console in front of you that does nothing for the flying part. the controls if you don't have a joystick or gamepad are difficult to begin with and the enemy targeting is the same as the main part of the game where they have to be in your frontal area and it is difficult to tell who you got a lock on. the ship stats are also a little difficult to figure out. only way i was able to tell my ship was really broken up was when it started flashing "eject" on my screen. there are some possibilities but they really have to screen it out more. i hope that these will be taken care of before the final is released.

Someone is a SWG fanboy

Damn dude, calm down, people don't have to like SWG (it really is shite)

I played SWG for a very long time, started about 2 months before they added in driveable stuff (Mounts owned, still used my dewie) but I stoped playing afew weeks before the jedi revamp was put it, as I was getting bored with the game, gone back afew times but I will never stay, I just miss old friends on there, I dont miss the game.

JTL does'nt interest me at all, looks boring.

Well I played SWG from the very start of it and I quit a month ago...

Reasons were....

1) Jedi-jedi-jedi-jedi.....I had jedi and trust me it was the most boring thing I had...

2) Jedi knights 100% ruined pvp...

3) PvP in general...2/3 days to become a master in your proffesion in then you could kill people who played that proffesion for months...PvP has no variation, its just best armour, best weapons, best skill mods and then spam away your special.

4) No content, a few dungeons that you complete tens of times....missions kill the same animal over and over and over with no story AT ALL and after running around the planets once...you've seen it all.

5)GRINDING!!!...grinding your proffesions, SWG was about grinding everything that was meant to be fun, jedi=grind..your proffesion=grind, credits= grind..

6)Never get a feel you're in Star Wars...no SW music ( literally ), the GCW is not there, Rebels vs Imperials has no meaning, the planets may look like they are from SW's but don't feel it.

7)The GCW- lol, there was no GCW.

8)The developers- OK you may think I'm just saying this because I don't like SWG but I'm not. The SWG developers don't know how to make a game, all they cared about was money...they can't make a fun game. They 100% sucked and screwed up everything they tried.

9) Bugs/exploits...so many its funny.

10) I don't know why I played the game for a year, I regret doing so..the best thing in SWG is the community
