Hi.
I recently tried to make a simple swinging lamp.
So i made a lamp brash, created a move_rope and keyframe rope and connected them. Next, I added a legthconstraint and made enity 1 as the lamp and Enity 2-the second end of rope. Finally i made a logic_mesaure_movement enity and set everything allright. The problem is that the lamp seems to go about too wildly when i shoot it for example. It acts as if it was made of leather not from metal. So anyone got any advice how to make such a lamp (it's an office kind of) on a rope make act more realistically? I tried setting it's strength and mass but it didn't affect it or at least these changes were not visible to my eye..
Thanks in advance,
Adam

don't use a lengthconstraint entity. use a phys_ballsocket. that's how valve made the swinging lights in prodigy

I've done the same, and what works best is the phys_ballsocket as gonzo said.

For the lamps here: http://www.exavior.com/apt/garage1.jpg I used invisible phys blocks with a ballsocket at the top. Then I added a size 1 rope with it's last node parented to the phys block, and added a point spotlight and lamp model which are also parented to the phys block.

I finished it all off with a wind brush that changes wind directions a lot, so the lamps gently move around.
