Hello everyone, I'm Prozac.:E

I've run into some trouble with my pc crashing. It only started when I made the transition from Water Hazard 2 to Black Mesa East. My screen just freezes saying "loading" and then it goes halfway dark behind the text...and then I get a black screen.:upstare:

What really puzzles me is that "technically" I probably shouldn't be able to play HL2 on my pc at all because I'm only using the onboard ATI Radeon X1200 video chip to power the game. I did set all my settings in the display panel to low though, and it has been running like a champ! Until now. :flame:

I never got consistant error messages either: One was the "Idirect" thing, another was some memory error. It's really weird how it did this all of a sudden. Is there a chance that I have overloaded/overheated the video chip and it is breaking down?

Any help or thoughts would be great. Thanks, Prozac

Well if it isnt your hardwear try validating the steam files , 99% of the time that fixes the problem :P. If not then ... well i guess some one else can help because thats about all i can say really.

Edit: You do have steam right?

Edit Edit: Also wrong section.

Is there a way I can save my game "SAVES" so I don't wipe out all of my progress if I have to reinstall the game or in fixing video/directx problems something goes terribly wrong?

Thanks, Prozac (damn sure don't want to lose of the progress I've made thus far);(:D

Sure!
Copy folder SAVE located in C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\accountname\half-life 2\hl2\.
(I assume you got Steam installed in C:\Program Files\Steam.)

Will it corrupt an new install if I put my old Save folder into the folder you reccommended?

Thanks, Prozac

Copied saves won't corrupt your game.
