I need some help...

Ok I just bought SWAT4 and I experience SEVERE fps slowdown when I ecounter a suspect.

My system specs are as follows.

AMD Athlon 1500+ ~1.5Ghz Operating Frequency w/ MMX, 3Dnow
256 MB DDR SDRAM
ATI Radeon 9200 256Mb 4x AGP
MSI Motherboard (Unknown Model)

I have Defraged my HD, Changed my graphics clock to 105% and it still happens. How much of a difference would 128MB more or Ram make? 256?

HL2 runs fine at 800x600 with everything at medium, except for AA,AF.

SWAT4 doesn't compare to it and slows down with everything at Low

yes, I think your system could definitely benefit from at least another 256 of RAM. If you could spare the cash, it might not be a bad idea to get 512 for a total of 768 MB.

I don't know if you are considering an upgrade any time soon, but you could probably improve your rig with a processor closer to 3 Ghz as well. If you shop around, you could probably get 512 MB of RAM and a nice processor for under $200.

In fact, on newegg.com, you can get 512 of corsair RAM (decent stuff) and a 2.66 GHz Intel processor for a total of $180. I would definitely look into an upgrade in the next year if you plan to play next gen games.

I cannot stand intel processors. I have always gone for AMD. I'll upgrade my RAM soon, but I only have ~50-75$

I'd say you need a better Processor... But I am not an expert at all so I shall not pretend to know better.

do some research on what type of processor you want and what type of RAM you want. If may benefit you to also consider a new motherboard if your current mobo won't be compatible with newer technology. I find that it's best to save up enough money for one big upgrade every couple of years instead of small upgrades a few times a year. Good luck with whatever you do and shop around before you buy.
