i dont understand, my temp is too high.
i have a system case fan, another exhaust fan, a PSU with a big fan (its called 400W 'bigfan' PSU :D) and an artic 7 CPU cooler. how can i be having this problem!
im not overclocked either, its at about 40C when idle then rockets when i play a game, cpu is fine

What dose it max out at?
And what exactly do you think is overheating?

im not sure it just seems that alot of heat is been generated in the case, any idea where i can find out where the pc monitors the temperature? it may be near the heat source

edit: i know that the temperature exceeds 55C

Where is your tower located? on the floor, on the desk, within something, close to a wall?

Is the extraction fan blocked by anything at all? Cables? The wall? Anything?

I had exactly the same problem.

Turned out my 9800 pro was getting really hot during gaming and the heat was rising and directly above my GPU sits my CPU's HSF.

I turned the case on it's side to test if this was indeed the problem and my CPU went from full load temp of 66 degrees (ish) to somewhere in the early 50s.

This was an XP 3200+ btw, which I have since swapped for an Athlon64 3000+ which runs full load at a cool 35/40 degrees. I have also since binned the shitty 9800pro and swapped it for a fanless 6600GT, which seems to run fine.
