Heyo, as I get further into photoshop from school and tutorials it's come to my attention that shading and pen work would be best suited with a tablet, any recommendations for a tablet/mouse/pen combo is? Thanks for any help you guys can offer.

I have one of those.. Wacom a4 oversized. Takes up a lot of deskspace and was like £300+ when I bought it a few yrs ago though.

Good bit of kit.

it appears that WACOM are by far the best brand

Wacom easily.

I have a cheap Volito but it works great in my opinion.

cool, thanks for the tips guys, wow that one looks nice tde, just might end up selling my kidneys to the black market after all

blah, what do those things do anyway? :p Art is the way to go... (noiamnotsatanokaymaybeiambutstfu)

I have myself a cheap one, it's quite alright, i only got it because i wanted to try out tablets. So it served it's purpose (hooked on it!).... and since i think tablets are the sex, i might be getting me a Wacom too, if i open up my wallet that is! :p

Signatures/basic tasks - Intuos3 A6

Doodles/for fun/learning - Intuos3 A5

Professional/Art painting - Intuos3 A4

CAD type work - Intuos2 A4 oversized

Taking the piss/too much money/large desk or lap - Intuos2 A3

Didn't really read reviews/expensive chrimbo pressy - Cintiq

I want a Wacom Intuos2 A4+ but they're like 700 USD here :\

Maybe I need to get into prostitution :p

You might find the larger ones aren't to your liking. A5 size are very comfortable, A4 can be too big for some, anything larger is a waste of money unless your doing CAD or something technical. Also the larger +A4 ones are Intuos2 which have a lower accuracy than the Intuos3.

A Wacom Intuos3 A6 looks pretty nice and is more in my pricerange, know if it's worth getting?

Or well, the A5 is only 100 USD more than that, around 300 USD, mein göt :p

Now only to decide wether I'm to wish that for my birthday or a piano, argh, my artistic mind is being raped!

naa avoid the A6 unless your just screwing around with it. You can't really do any sort of drawing with it, not really, you'll just end up wishing you'd saved a little longer.

Go for the A5, about mousemat size and personally I think its a good size, I did some pretty good work on mine before I got the A4, so its perfectly usable, and its more comfortable to sit with it on your lap and draw like you would with a drawing book or something.

Go for a graphire3, just over $100 I think for an A5 and the graphire range is really good, only thing missing is you don't get the tilt feature the intuos range have, but tbh you could easily live without it, its actually more annoying than it is useful, only good for the odd effect here and there if that.

Put it this way, Anry used to use one of the graphire range, and you've seen his work :)

yep that one is a graphire3, perfectly fine tablet. (get the 6x8 one)

512 pressue levels - thats fine, 1024 is a bit iffy IMO, 512 feels smoother
eraser - surprisingly useful 512 pressure levels also
cordless and no batteries (much nicer that way)

wacom mouse - wacom mice are pretty comfortable and well made, though can be weird to get used to because it doesn't matter what direction they face when moving them around, unlike regular mice

2000+ dpi

yep I'd get it.

Sapphire Blue, Pearll White, Graphite Gray - keep an eye out on this, apparantly the color scheme effects the price. It used to with the intuos2. I think a gray one cost a good deal more than purple for some reason.

o my god!
i was just looking for a tablet and i saw this clintiq by wacom

You can draw on the screen. that is the great art tool i have seen in my entire life...
the possibilities are very inticity as i am gradually trying further my graphic design expertise. too bad theyre outrageously expensive. maybe eventually!

How come nobody mentioned the WACOM Graphire3 yet? I have one, and it kicks ass. Its a lot cheaper than the ones you're talking about, like $100. (thats a 3"x5" one). I didn't think I'd be getting to serious with it, so I started out with the small one. I haven't had much experience with tablets, but this one suits me perfectly and does everything I'd want it to.

Righto. I guess my thread-skimming skills need some fine-tuning. Sorry

But yeah, <3 teh graphire3. I'm content with my 3.5" x 5". :p
