Look to see what programs are in your startup.

There are a few lists of msconfig startup items. Im guessing there may be some stupid program running in the background. If its in your startup items chances are it wont be in the applications section of the task manager.

haha thats happened to me before, except my cpu usage was constantly at 100% for some reason, when idling, i had to rollback to get rid of it, still have no idea what it was.

WTF mate? (Extra pointless characters to complete the 10 character req.)

Start > Run > msconfig and then fix your startup programs and remove anything that seems "pop-up-alike"

Run Ad-aware.

Yeah, actually it looks like a pop-up or something that gets up like every 5 min...

you sure nothing like kazaa is running in the background?

Jmechy
you sure nothing like kazaa is running in the background?
that would be very stupid if it was true. and it wouldnt sudddenly jump up for no reason, me thinks

this is the second problem you've posted. just format your HD man! get rid of everything and start over, no point patching stuff up.

but yeah, follow some of the advice above. but format!!!!

Woot!! It Was 39 Gators On My Comp!! Thats Why My Memory Had To Be Flushed Every 30 Seconds!! Thats Why I Was Laggging And I Also Had Virus On Computer Woot Thanks Peoples!!!

(FOr dumb people)

Gator Was useing to much virtual memory and it was going overboard so it flushes out the virtual memory because its getting overloaded. Which caused bad Fps and game stuttering.

O yeah, this thread is useless now that prob is gone WOOTS0RZ!

Gator wont leave your system lol.

You have to remove the software you clicked the agree to use or Gator will just rebuild itself in the background while your PC is on the net surfing, its pretty tuff to get rid of it.

Also Gain and C-Clamp are also mothers to get off your system and they all have to be agreed to use some software so these ppl make sure even if you delete it that it comes back if you havent deleted the program along with it.

Example of programs: DivX Pro - you can get normal DivX player without the Gain Ads but if you click ok to the DivX Pro version then you get Gain and as long as its on your system it will always update itself. Alot of shareware stuff comes with these things imbedded into them and you need to search your system for all of em.

Why would people bother fuxing our systems for? You dont get to see what happens............it pointless.

Althought it gives me a great idea. I would create a virus, then sell my program to get rid of it for $20.
Lol, I would be rich.

There not really viruses in a sence there more programs to run ads so when you go surfing on the net popups will generate and maybe you might just want to buy something thats how these ppl make money and most of the time you have to log onto there web site and DL an uninstall program just to get rid of it.

When frank mantioned its the devils creation he meant it cuz its true the same ppl that make the removal of spyware also make the spyware that gets removed!

But i think you realized there getting rich, they have already thought of this ...

jeesh jus look on the 'running applications' list, and check to see which program is causing it to spike like that, it will stand out like a saw thumb, had something similar happen, its masqerading as a windows application, it sounds like a definate virus dude , most likely a trojan., hunt it down, once youve found it, choke it too death. ... or just quaranteen it, that useually works too

I think I shouls just reformat my hard drive once every year. To much crap gets into it. So instead of "patching" it, I think I would rather wipe the slate clean. But, I havn't refomated in 3..close to four years so yeah....I gotta do that soon. I ran ad-aware the first time I got it and I had 217 unnessary registries operating!
