Team Fortress 2 Blog Update: Guard Dog

It all started yesterday on the Steampowered forums where a member created a fake TF2 update introducing the 10th class, a guard dog. This hilarious fake update page shows a BLU & RED dog with a mobile sentry gun on it's back, as well as abilities such as being a jarate dispenser. Check it out here, woof woof.[br]Team Fortress fans have fell in love with the guard dog idea and now Valve have commended the idea on the TF2 blog with a thumbs up from Saxton Hale himself.

Simple solution, change it to a robot dog and make it a mobile replacement for the Engineer's sentry when their update rolls around. Not quite as good I admit but it negates every argument against it.

I think so and peta attacked them.. I dont see anything wrong with the idea if it improves the game but valve has never done anything to cause drama and this would in my opinion.

True though, the dog thing would cause more drama among more people, but to say Valve has never caused drama is ridiculous.

The Dog Update was done really well and I'm glad they got some acknowledgement from Valve.

What? (You continually manage to make no sense). Regardless of who idled or who didn't idle it still created a load of drama on the forums and in game. It's a pain in the arse to try ignoring a bunch of people whining about hats.

That's not a bad idea. The Engineer would actually be able to repair it instead of just bludgeoning it to death with his wrench.
I wouldn't mind seeing this added to the game. The Engineer definitely needs a change of pace.

I love this idea! Screw PETA no one listens to them anyway.
A few interesting ideas and questions:
- Allow the dog to run faster than the scout. It had FOUR legs! No human can outrun a dog!!!
- Does the hater propel the GD in a straight line, and will the dog have a Mele without the boost? Perhaps the rockets should be more like the spy's cloaking mixed with Bonk!: it could be used at any time but you can't shoot and can't pick stuff up but you could Mele which would do extra damage but end the speed boost.
- The GD is smaller and potentially faster than the scout. What kind of health would it have?
- Perhaps it would be best to have it so the GD can't pick up the intelligence unless it is using the carrier. This would mean that it can't defend itself.
- Speed should be a MAJOR aspect of the class... Faster than the Scout but no double jump... maybe can jump farther buy not very high at all. So it could leap gaps the scout cant but can't get up high like the scout can.
- What if the Engi could "upgrade" the dogs guns? This could come at significant loss in speed but would render the GD a walking turret. A turret with really low health.
- The ability to 'sniff out' players and spies is interesting but might need tweaking. Its purpose might need some focusing and how you 'get the scent' could be altered. Maybe that players that you have killed before leave colored trails of scent for you to follow.
