Lots of fixes in this update, with a few tweaks and changes along the way. See the major changes below.
  • Added a "Discard" button to the item pickup panel.

  • Added a backstab custom death animation to the Heavy.
  • Changed the Dead Ringer so it can be activated while carrying the flag.
  • Increased the Force-A-Nature's damage by 10%.
  • Fixed not being able to reflect arrows with the Flamethrower.
  • Fixed the background color of the Spy disguise panel not always matching his disguise team.
  • Fixed Spies not being able to sap a building if an enemy player was colliding with the building.
  • Fixed getting a real target ID on an enemy Spy that's disguised as one of your teammates if you are disguised as an enemy.
  • Fixed the Ambassador not shooting enemy sticky bombs.
  • Fixed Spies being able to automatically cloak after uncloaking at the moment of a weapon switch.
  • Fixed Jarate instantly exploding when thrown in some places, like the final area of Badwater.
  • Fixed Sniper "civilian" exploit where players could crash the server.
  • Fixed a couple of cases where viable backstabs would fail.
The update will be applied automatically. Steam news.

Does that mean the flag is dropped along with your corpse? Or do you drop a fake intel as well? That would be goddam priceless.

Some useful fixes, but has anyone been getting a bug where your ID for who you're disguised as in the bottom left will read your own name? I get it fairly often, I don't know if others see me that way as well.

This update is not being applied. I restated Steam several times and no effect. Dammit I don't understand why there can't be an "update this game" or "check for updates" button, you have to restart Steam or something.

You realize that I don't know what you mean? D:

I thought I just sucked at backstabs. Now I'll suck less!

FaN still fails compared to good old scattergun.

Finally, I'll be able to delete my Xth sandman straight away.
  • Added a backstab custom death animation to the Heavy.
Nice. Can't wait to see it. :)
  • Increased the Force-A-Nature's damage by 10%.
    It's not OP'd enough already?
  • Fixed not being able to reflect arrows with the Flamethrower.
Sweet. I can't wait to try this. Those poor sods still using the backburner are really missing out. :)
Hopefully they've increased the Huntsman's power to compensate- if we're better off with the rifle no-one will use it.
  • Changed the Dead Ringer so it can be activated while carrying the flag.
So you can't disguise with the briefcase, but you can cloak?

I think, Corp. Sheepo, that you'd drop it for real.

Ugh, after using the FAN for a long time I just can't go back to the Scattergun. It has this terrible slight pause between shots that just ruins the whole thing for me.

How so?

  • If you get caught off guard by a pyro, it'll save your behind and (if you aren't on fire) allow you to work them over, since they can't get close enough to flame you with it, while you whittle away at their health with the shotgun/pistol.
  • Knocking people off of battlements or otherwise off ledges is incredibly useful, say a heavy for which the odds of you taking him down are slim unless he sucks or a pyro who may very well kill you if he turns to fire on you.
  • Stopping an incoming scout from making a double jump to a strategic position. You probably won't kill him with either shotgun in a few blasts, but the FaN will cause him to miss the jump.
  • Extra long jumps for you. Without the FaN, I can't make the jump to the middle ledge of the Pipeline map with the ramped tracks out of the right door from the spawn (forcing me to run to the bottom through the pyros, heavies, and sentries lurking down there).
  • The 'penalty' is negligible. The reload time (compared to the reload/fire time of the scattergun when it's been emptied) seems better, actually. With the scattergun, you get the first six shots pretty quick, but after that, the FaN fires quicker. (Note: I haven't played with the scattergun in a while, and I'm going off of memory for this one.)
  • Now it's 10% stronger with this last update.

They STILL haven't fixed the first-person view of the Huntsman!? I wan't it to be right!

You won't be able to cloak with the intel. That's retarded. But you will leave a bodie and the intel, and turn invisible.

Is anyone's backpack actually full? I've got 40+ hours the last couple of weeks and I'm a little over half full.
I've played around 65 hours since the update and I've had to delete 17 items to keep space. So many sandmans / kgb / kritzkreigs

Ya, it is kind of annoying that the weapon is on the left side. My head is in pain when I see the left-handed bow.

The only time the FAN is super useful is for intel grabs, or sometimes when you are just doing "your own thing".

The rest it is ok. As a Scout, when it came to dealing with other Scouts, you never lost if they were carrying the FAN and you the scattergun.

The 10% increase should help though.

There is something great about running up to someone and unloading a chest full'o hurt. Where hurt is defined as 'lead slugs that blast the target backwards also'.

Especially if they then die from fall damage.

My quick and rapid strike strategy with the FAN usually proves very successful. Far better than I ever was with the Scattergun.

I like when they do the special animation then skid away at 100mph

Sniper is holding in left hand but in thirdperson model he's holding in the right hand.

For example, this picture shows how a right-handed person would hold a bow. With the left hand on the left side on the bow, and the arrow on the left side of the bow gripping the arrow on the right side of the bow (as the right hand is strongest, to pull the bow back) and the bow on the right side of the body and head:

However, the first-person view in TF2 of the huntsman is left-handed style:

By the way, there's no patch notes on this, but:

IF YOU HIT A BURNING PERSON WITH THE FLAREGUN IT MINI-CRITS.

THIS IS GREAT

that is pretty cool. It'd make the flaregun plenty more useful... I hope.
